What are you using to stream to you Tv's in your home.

I run a Jellyfin server on a mini pc running openmediavault for my NAS. The Jellyfin app is available for most devices and you can stream from your server from there. If the Jellyfin app isn't available for your device, you can use a web browser for access, too. 
i was using windows 11 file sharing which worked great you can open the files directly in the iphone file browser. it uses samba. vlc also works great
paying for netflix, spotify, youtube. considering getting hbo. recently cancelled Prime cause neither free shipping nor same day delivery apply if you live in the armpit of europe that is croatia.
but also heavily to.rr.en.ti.ng and sl.sk.ing the rest i cannot find legally (dont know if im allowed to say that here so pls let me know).
as for viewing setup. i still believe having a windows/mac/linux machine (connected to a dumb or smart tv for video, and separately to speakers) and manually browsing files or starting streamers in internet browser or its own app, trumps any smart tv interface or clunky streaming app/platform.
yes, even for living room. wireless mouse + keyboard under the coffee table.
this setup is also great for music listening if your desktop machine is a laptop with its desktop extended to the tv. avoids the horrible reality of being forced to have the big tv on just for music.
for local files, thinking of building a windows based NAS once i work out how to get friendly with all the crippling security restrictions introduced in win 10. had 2 separate network specialist friends come and try to set this up for me, both gave up after life 3 hours trying to make shared volumes stick on the receiving machine. why windows? prefer my media disks to be ntfs and therefore easily yanked out and used elsewhere if need be.

I have jellyfin, plex, and emby. but I mostly use Emby.
Shield Pro. ScanDisk 4tb drive into tv.
Firestick here too. A good selection of streaming apps. Although Amazon doesn't like them so it is a little occasional cat and mouse with them blocking the apps and me needing to re-install new updated versions that aren't detected. Some downloading assistant apps make it a simple process though. So no worries. But sometimes you do lose like your favorites you may have saved within the old app.

This is a very old topic, With IPTV you can now forget Firesticks.
I have a Nvidia shield & Thomson Streaming Box 270UK Plus (Google os), the latter is cheaper and works very well.
In the future updates will be pushed to android (like extra features during Covid, they silently installed) This will make it harder to install 3rd party apps, more an inconvenience at 1st but thats just the start, eventually apps will be locked to the play store only.
With this in mind between 2-10 years time you will need root access to your android box to install iptv apps, is root needed atm, no.
