Catalytic Colnverter Question

Thief's love those things. Auto mobile makers are making a ton of money replacing them. Until they are forced to change it they probably won't.

Have you ever touched an exhaust pipe when an engine is at running temperature NR? The underside of vehicles is ideal to maximize airflow across the exhaust, cat converter assembly which is HOT AS...!

Try this

I would have said the same as Fris up there but he beat me to it. Yes, exhaust pipes are on the outside for the airflow but also because well....you really want to get intoxicated by exhaust fumes. You won't notice it at first, its nasty trust me on that one. I had inhaled so much diesel fumes from the lorry, I got a migraine and projectile vomit, I was dizzy and had to stop......had to clean the lorry the next morning. Yeah, not a good idea to have an exhaust on the inside..not unless you've converted it to electric and forgot to take the exhaust system off :lmao::lmao:

Surely it could be tucked away somewhere, were it's not so easily accessible.

Normal operating temperatures of a converter is 500-800°F, and up to 1200°F when the vehicle is under heavy load. Unless you can design an effective heat sink to continuously bleed off that heat, tucking it away isn't an option.

Correct NR. Once combustion engines are a thing of the past, the cat converter thieves will have long since moved on to something else.

Combustion engines shouldn't be a thing of the past.......electric pollute before you even get the car approximately 10 - 20 tonnes, then most electric is powered by fossil fuels still, the tyres are the wrong compound, batteries are unrecyclable and cost a mint to replace and if no one has noticed the electricity bills have gone way up to stupid.....I was quoted £1300 per year, that's not including gas supply. so call that £2600 per year when my previous bills were no more than £500 a year. Not sure how they think we on disability can afford that....add charging an EV to that and it will push it way over £3000 per year. Also, for me to buy an EV to suit the family, it would cost in the region of £70,000, I can't even afford the deposit for it, this is the new way of living.....everyone that is on disability, poverty line, homeless, are all suffering under this new WEF and NWO ideology. We have a council that only allows you to drive into certain areas 100 times a year anymore and you have to ask permission from the council! That is communism and if our world is going that way, which it seems it is...millions will be left stranded, hungry and ill in the western world. So screw EVs....even the chinese sales has dropped, which tells you something. I'm sticking to petrol and when that ends I will probably be dead anyway, so it won't matter. lol

Or I will get it converted to LPG but EV battery materials are making the miners sick....

I don't think they can/will eliminate fossil fuel vehicles anytime soon.

Even still you should he able to place a

Catalytic Converter somewhere on a vehicle where it's not so easily accessible to thieves. It doesn't take them long at all rip it out, that's why they do it.

The cat is just after the down pipe from the manifold, the whole vehicle would have to be redesigned. Even then I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone that thinks having an exhaust inside the vehicle is a good idea. If you make in difficult for thieves to steal it, it would also make it extremely hard to replace it, should it go wrong. The only reason they want them is for the platinum that is in them. It happens over here a lot, where cats get nicked, at least it isn't the whole vehicle that was nicked.
