No Kirk I meant Bait for the rats then bury them.

I have started a new project but you can't see it till I'm done.
It's rained for 2 days so I haven't been able to finish the roof or door.
But I have lots of pics as I have gone along.
Again I needed the power tools. Sorry bmark240 but the Mrs made me use them. :P

Sounds like something worth looking forward too
As you can see I like seeing progress from one point to another and how something changes into something finished.

Be nice if we were closer so we could share power tools

As for today:
7 quarts put up

Deseeded tomato's

Scraps
Now if it were up to me I'd run this through the juicer but the boss says this is nothing but water :whistling:

Going to skip a day, no picking tomorrow evening then pick the next night for Salsa.

Ok this isn't funny no more
I need a break and there's more to pick tomorrow, I only picked the ripest of the ripe and left the rest.

But as for today, 2 canners of tomato's (14 quarts) and tonight 3 more buckets. I shouldn't have any to pick till about this weekend "I HOPE"

However, with this weather and overnight lows in the Mid 70's boy they get ripe fast 8-)
All I know is I need a break.

cool stuff kirk! the tank is for watering the crops?

You must be referring to the gas tank, the thing with the red cap in the middle?

LP gas, heating for the winter

Kirk has a green thumb that lots of people would love to have.
I don't grow crops but I also do like to garden. :)

Here yu go guys, some pics for August to compare to July
As promised, quoted last months post, removed Junes pics, left July's and added August.

And a few extra's
My Sweet Million Cherry tomato's, almost up to the roof of the garage so I hung two tomato basket stands on the outside of the fence for them to grow down and don't break due to the weight.

21 more quarts of juice on the wall 21 quarts of juice. Take one down pass it around...

Now, need to stock up on vodka for the winter :whistling:

Then grow some potatoes and build a still.
As long as you only make it for your consumption then what can they do?
You seem to be self sufficient with the rest of what you do.

No jackie that was my letter box.
And if everyone wants I can repost the letter box, fence, seat, the welcome board and coat rack all into one post.

Your hard work sure has paid off... with more work!

Amazing garden, Kirk! Every time I try to build one, stupid wildlife eats everything!

Which wildlife seems to be the problem? Big wildlife like deer or the small critters like squirrels & Rabbits?

See Page 1 post half way down Posted: Wed Jun 26, 2013 9:10 pm

Rabbit know better to come around I turn into elmer fudd with a .22

Deer now I don't have a problem with but there are tricks, go the barber and ask for a bag of hair clippings, spread that around the edge all the way around the garden, deer won't come around; they smell a human scent.

Tomato's are coming to an end thank god
Getting small so going to make juice with that and more salsa with the rest and that should take care of the 140 quarts in jars we got. Shelves are full so tomato's will probably get pulled up in the next week and get the fall garden planted.

My birdie's in the tomato vine have hatched. I bet they don't need a green card, nor are they illegal and not on food stamps or welfare .

All those tomatoes and no one to throw them at. :(

I can't do anything at the moment as the wind has been blowing no slower than 40km/h for over a week. :(
I just want it to stop for a couple of days to finish my latest project and then I can post it online.

I think what your seeing is three things

First, I took the pic from inside so your seeing the screen on the window
Second, have the tomato cages still in the garden with late tomato's
Third, our chain link fence right against the garden/ driveway.

But yea, pic does look deceiving based off where its took.
