What is your best downloading software?

I've been using JDownloader... I honestly can't even remember how long. It's been quite a while.
I've downloaded so many different types of files with this downloader over the years, including YouTube videos and even Facebook videos.
But now that I think about it, it feels like I've been using just one thing for far too long. Time has definitely passed, so I wonder if something better might have come out since then.
I'd really appreciate it if you could share the best downloaders you've used!

Honestly, I've used JDownloader for quite a long time, but right now I'm trying out IDM since it's the recommendation. JD tends to be the best, but i swear it's a memory hog.

I have so many issues with it that it grew into a quirky household member.

Everyone recommends IDM, and I am sure it is great, but I am so lazy to get used to something newer.

I have JDownloader 2 installed on a Synology NAS and that is the best thing ever. I really hated when I had to restart my PC and there is a long download running in the background. Having the downloader on a NAS solves that issue.

I've used IDM for decades and just over a year ago switched to jDownloader2 and I just cannot go back to IDM. JD2 is just miles ahead of IDM. Give it try.

jDownloader is great all round, but it doesn't support cloudflare type proxying, and i tend to use it more for filehosters. i use aria2 for regular downloads quite a bit. i tried out surge downloader, but if one uses it with links that expire, there's no way to resume, unlike aria2 or jdownloader where you can update the URL of a download (at least, that i've found yet).

Try IDM - for me is the best I also used jDownloader, but IDM for me better (not special functions etc.) feelings, and easy to use

I use Rapidgator because it's ubiquitous and has fast download speeds. It isn't cheap and keeps getting more expensive, but the lesser known Services are hit or miss for what I’m looking for; but for the actual software—IDM
