Been over a year since anyone's used this thread... so, I'll spark it back up.

Anything good on TV lately? With Hollywood going to the dogs (that's a different chat)... what's worth watching these days?

Anything good on TV lately? With Hollywood going to the dogs (that's a different chat)... what's worth watching these days?

Black Mirror is one of my top picks right now even though I've only seen a few episodes. It's basically "what if this happened" scenarios, usually dealing with technology or other weird and futuristic concepts. It is an anthology so you can watch the episodes out of order... pick a random episode from any season and see if you like it. After a few, I figured I'd just watch them all in their release order.

Money Heist is a decent crime show that mostly puts you in the perspective of criminals but also their captives as well as police. It is in Spanish so you can choose between subtitle or dubbed if needed.

Ozark is what I am currently absorbed in and I did see it mentioned a few times in this thread but if you did not check it out or read other posts, it has similarities to Breaking Bad but the actors and production are a different vibe. I've only seen a few episodes, but it has been very good so far.

Two more crime shows are Top Boy and The Wire. I have only seen the first episode of Top Boy but it really blew me away so I'll have to keep up on it. The Wire I've seen the first season and it was very good, I will definitely want to finish watching it and it is a very highly rated show.

All of the shows mentioned above have ~50 minute episodes so they do require commitment. I'll reply again with some other genres that have shorter episodes at another time :)

Out of the tv series...I've watched wandavision, hawkeye and loki I think.....I recommend them too.

- I watched The Wire 2002-2008 for the first time. Definitely gritty. Some great acting.
- Rewatched Hill Street Blues 1981–1987 (again). Such a great show. I liked how it dealt with the social issues of the day from so many points of perspective. Still amazed that so many of the regular cast never really became more famous afterwards. Producer did... In rewatching, I spotted so many future talented actors that went on to become stars.
- Hill Street had one spin off that I was able to find due to our talented Resolvers: Beverly Hills Buntz 1987-1988. They are VHS rips and and the quality is only half as bad as the show was...
- Watched Silo 2023. Interesting, but boring.
- Finishing up season 2 of Joe Pickett 2021- . It follows the next three books in the series and is basically the same as season one while advancing the story line. <shrug>

- Currently rewatching The Sopranos 1999-2007. I'm thinking, why was this even a hit? LOL
- Also watching season 3 of Warrior 2019-. It's got some great martial arts for the little boy set. I love it for the period setting, costumes and culture.

Pass the remote... ;)🍿

just watched Hello Tomorrow on AppleTV

strange but interesting. it's more about family and the dynamics of fatherhood.
it's a art deco meets the future.

In a retro-futuristic world, charismatic salesman Jack Billings leads a team of fellow sales associates determined to
revitalize their customers' lives by hawking timeshares on the moon.

worth a look see

Another good quirky whodunit is Jonathan Creek a British one. It's a different case each episode about a magicians assistant who helps solve impossible cases for the police.

Ricky Gervais created and stars in this heartwarming comedy-drama series as a loyal English nursing home caretaker who sees only the good in everyone.
Starring:Ricky Gervais, Kerry Godliman, Karl Pilkington
Creators:Ricky Gervais

A documentary crew's cameras capture the life of nursing home employee Derek Noakes, a 49-year-old bachelor with curious passions.

i watched it twice, it was that good.

The show I'm currently watching is called "Imposters" (2014) and it is considered comedy/drama/mystery/crime. So far it has been very good at keeping my interest and has decent comedy sprinkled in (although it can be a bit cheesy at times). The description of the show actually has major spoilers for the first couple episodes - essentially, it is a story of tracking down a con artist. There's a bit of a twist but again I would rather not spoil anything and I recommend checking out the first episode to see if you'd like it. Just a warning, it was cancelled after two seasons and supposedly the second season isn't that great.

Watched Silo 2023. Interesting, but boring.
Currently rewatching The Sopranos 1999-2007. I'm thinking, why was this even a hit? LOL
I know this person has been banned but definitely agree with these comments... Silo has an amazing first episode, then it just couldn't keep its momentum imo.

Also I watched Sopranos for the first time last year, started off strong but towards the middle it started getting boring (with an occasional decent episode). I honestly think I'll never bother rewatching it, unless a buddy wants to throw on an episode.

I've just started watching World War II from above, new series of Loki, homeland was good, Silo was good, I watched foyles back in 2000...it was ok but I'm not really for world war II dramas tbh, I watched bits and pieces of The sopranos. I've watched NCIS, Law and Order, chicago PD, swat, FBI. criminal minds, mayans MC, Godfather of harlem, true detective, snowfall, multiple real detective progs....from the US, Bosch, Blacklist, blind spot, rizzoli and Isles, burn notice, monk, major crimes, inspector morse, the closer, homeland, cracker (that's a good British series), spooks, prison break (bought it on hard copy), the professionals, ripper street, the shield, murphys law, POI, numb3rs, ashes to ashes, hustle, jack irish, I started watching peaky blinders but gave up, TJ Hooker.

Walking dead was good for the first few seasons and as it got nearer to the end, I think they were just drawing it out for no particular reason. I've watched the spin offs from it, which I've enjoyed more than the walking dead series.
