I've been on cable too for the last couple of years and found it more economic, reliable and fast than the previous line connection, though nothing like the above speed.
But the trouble with higher speeds is that they're of little use when the hosts cap downloads anyway. Some other sites do too.

Man you have to be loving that. I'm on high speed DSR...I think that's what you call it ,it'd not cable although we may switch . Hope you enjoy your new connection FB

Someone answer me this: How come the ONLY time EVER that I see speeds faster then 2 megs per sec download is when I use one of those bandwidth test sites? Mine shows 16 megs download speed but I sure as heck never see that speed when I download ANYTHING from ANYWHERE... not from torrents... not from any filehost... nor from any website...

All the file host sites cap downloads, but it's also due to the fact that you're d/l from Europe, across the ocean and half a continent with all the hops in between. Every hop slows it down. The bandwidth test uses the closest place to you that has the fastest ping. Try using the bandwidth test on a site in Europe or Asia - you'll see a significant drop in speed. I do see an awesome increase in web page loading, especially from Amazon as they load so much crap into each page.

that's what we have, 30 and 6, also comcast. We pay $44/month for it because we don't have TV. no reason to.

Me? well at the time I did that test, I was Downloading gta 5 torrent (60 gigs baby.. 2.1% done lol) so perhaps that made the test results inaccurate. 1.4 MB/s as I am typing this now... now its at 2.7% done - come on! I don't wanna wait 3 days to play GTA 5!!! Oops... sorry.. got off topic there... guess I will leave my PC on all night.

I moved out of my GFs apartment - then I moved back in when we made up and discovered my GF had downgraded to the lowest possible price for internet $15 a month, she switched from verizon to Time Warner Cable - I tried playing Warcraft this morning and my character was jumping all over the place so I logged out and did a bandwidth test and this was the result:
WTF??? I went in the living room and asked my GFs daughter and her BF if they were downloading anything and they said no, but they were watching netflix and I could clearly see a download bar on her BFs laptop (sigh) I guess we need to upgrade our $15 plan....

I pay less than the sums on the previous page, with some basic TV included, but my speed is also considerably slower.
The reason I don't mind about the low speed is because I started with dial-up back then, and compared to that, it's now flying.

I got a good deal here in the UK, i get 40/10 fibre service for £10pm
Just got a bump up in speed and a cut in price. - $59.99 a month
I've got two cans and a string. Comcast is talking about upgrading the string.
