As this is a warez forum I assume it's okay posting this? If not then admin/mods plz delete it.

Surely I can't be alone in noticing that over the past months it's become increasingly difficult to obtain ESET license keys, Internet Security, NOD32 whatever of their products? For years it was relatively easy to obtain working keys by Googling around, and TNOD used to have no bother downloading quite a few - often keys that lasted a good few months.

ESET appear to have finally nailed it down and it's now difficult to obtain even a working Trial key. Whole batches of them (mostly trial keys) posted on Youtube, Facebook, various forums whatever, but very few work, and even when they do they don't seem to last long.

So what are you Eset/NOD32 users doing? Buying a key off the numerous Ebay sellers (but some of those apparently aren't legit full product keys), or have you resorted to buying a legit key from Eset?

Also searched this forum and unless I've missed it there is no cracks/serials section?
 
Look on the bright side, at least they didn't do what Norton did to PILES of us years ago. They were the big Anti-V everybody was using and "sharing", apparently one of the Updates turned the "borrowed" versions into a decoration. Everything looked fully functioning BUT, was actually doing nothing, those using it had more bug/viruses than a dump on a hot summer day. What are you going to do, complain you were using "Borrowed" Anti-V Software??

Never used ESET accept once or twice for an online scan years ago. I've used free AV software for years and never had an issue
 
Also never used ESET, in fact never had a particularly high opinion of them.
In the distant past, I was using cracked Norton and then Kaspersky, but got tired of searching for keys all the time and getting blacklisted suddenly, always at a critical moment.

So I switched to free AVIRA over 10 years ago, and to my knowledge have been virus free.
But also the AV on board Windows 10 has got quite good over the years and constitutes a very viable solution.

I think the premium products only survive because of user inertia and fear of the unknown.

If you look in this thread Google (Moderator or whatever he does:lmao::lmao:)recommends a free one I have in one of my systems, it works really well and FREE

Thanks, I may have a look at Comodo AV. I'll also have a read up on Win Defender, I'm quite happy with W10 firewall via Malwarebytes front end for it, maybe built in Win Defender will suffice for AV.

Constantly searching for ESET keys has become a real bind so as you folk have pointed out, I think it may be time to move to something else, a free solution.

Edit: Hmm just thought, I have Win updates disabled and only enable them when I want to apply updates, I'd be pretty sure that will mess up Defender definitions updates so that probably rules out Defender.
 
iv'e been using adaware free, for a few years.alway's been happy with it.and you don't get nagged with offers
 
Yea, used Eset for ages, but then they made it to hard so moved to something else. I wonder if they feel it was worth it...??

I have never heard of this; source please?

Additionally, I don't ever remember Norton being any kind of in-demand AV in any of my file sharing circles. There were ESET, Kaspersky, and a few others maybe, but never Norton. Also, I find this claim difficult to bring about. As is mentioned in the OP, you normally download the AV legally, but use active keys from the source of your choosing. I don't see how Norton (or any company) could differentiate which accounts are paid and which are not via this method.

Your anti-Virus simply wasn't doing what it was supposed to do.. You had nothing identified as a problem, it was almost like one of the "updates" was like a Trojan and the program no longer did what it was intended to do. It was like it was a decoration., large numbers of people using their "borrowed" anti-virus software all ran into the same problems with computers infected with viruses, the ONLY THING everyone had in common was using that ANTI-VIRUS.
Go ahead, keep using pirated security, those weren't the days of simply letting you know you had an invalid installation like this "chasing your tail every few days ESET" and few others you continually hear people complaining about.


You would have had to have "BEEN THERE IN THE EARLY DAYS FOR A SOURCE" I'm not sitting researching a source for a problem piles of us ran into using what amounts to stolen anti-virus software and bitching that it stopped working. It cured piles of us to using any kind of "pirated security software", it was bad enough trying to download something over phone line connections. There was also a time when you bragged about your first file you managed to download that was WHOLE MB,

NORTON AT ONE TIME WAS "THE" ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE SO OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND LONG ENOUGH AND JUST ..........WHAT NEXT?

Also been through the days of DMCA freezing your Movie files you've been making available for others to download, your account is frozen, can't remove them but you've been hand delivered a lawsuit and a cease and desist order to immediately stop making a movie with DiCaprio available and you can't remove the files in your DMCA FROZEN ACCOUNT.
 
My AV works just fine.

Sure, you don't have to research it; that's your prerogative. But then, don't be surprised when these sorts of wild unsubstantiated claims get called out for what they seem to be on the surface; bogus.

And your comments appear on the surface as an inexperienced fish with nothing better to do than start an argument about times you have no idea about but, may also be someone still crying about the WBB going under and has nothing better to do. Keep using your free security software, you'll find there are some things you simply don't use "borrowed software versions". SECURITY IS ONE OF THEM, have a great day.
 
First of all; my humble opinion about Norton. It worms it's way into every nook & cranny of your machine. It's like a virus itself! I couldn't get rid of it fast enough! That was a great many years ago.

Like many others I used Eset for years & years but I simply got sick & tired of searching for fixes & serials so I dropped it.

For a long time now I've been using Windows Defender alongside Malwarebytes. So far I haven't had a hitch. Windows Defender has come a very long way in recent years. Today it's as good as any of them.

One I found amusing for a while was Zonealarm Extreme, it has program interaction control which needs your permission for everything. You can set everything so high there's alerts for almost everything that happens, opening/closing things and everything requires "the password", you can drive yourself nuts with things setup super tight.:lmao: It does have some nice network control features.

This lines up exactly with my recollection of Norton and suddenly someone comes along purporting that it was the talk of the town in file sharing circles. I would advise frequenting more reputable (and technical) areas of the interwebs. Experienced hands that I know of wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. But it's ok; you live and learn (and hopefully wise up).

Windows has come a long ways in its defensive offerings, but have you tried Kaspersky? It is quite good also.
 
I feel as though these days antiviruses are outdated anyway, as most if not all browsers have in-built phishing and virus protection from downloads/link clicking. You'll only ever get infected if you purposely go looking on dodgy websites, or open up an email and click a link from Abdu the 3rd of Uganda for your inheritance money.

If you're a little concerned, COMODO Firewall free is awesome, as it does everything; malware, ransomware, phishing, dns/arp/port attacks etc. It does need a little configuring, but there are good youtube videos on this. But Windows Defender is more than capable for the average internet user alongside an up-to-date browser/software! The only necessity I have is a VPN; but I'm quite privacy orientated :)
 
I still use ESET NOD32 since the day I discovered it. It had the automatic serial key updater app with it back then so when the current key expired, it would automatically find a key for you. I don't remember the exact name for that but it was awesome. When that stopped working/getting upgrades, I started searching for keys, and I do AGREE that it's been harder and harder every year. It's a mission finding a working one these days, but they are out there. d
 
I didn't Think People still used antiviruses... But from what i see Free keys and homemade keys are still alive and well.

Best Antivirus is common sense. If you feel like you gullible or insecure Maybe Scan with malwarebytes now and then but winblows 8+ Has Windows Defender and its just as useless as all the big name antiviruses. Just Virus Total or hybrid-analysis is all i need to know if a crack is legit or not. If Its Sus ollydbg or find another source.

Only Way You get a Virus is if you let it in. If you over paranoid run a virtual machine or sandbox to try out whatever it is you download that has a high risk of giving you aids.Its Like a condom for your PC. In the same sense using a virtual machine inside a virtual machine makes you that special ed kid that asks what if you use 2 condoms.....

Best Prevention is Education of End User. Keeping a known good backup of Your System whether its a system restore point or a proper full system img. It gives you a way to make sure you data is safe.
 
I have purchased ESET keys from ebay for years, they range £2-6 for 1-3 years.

In the past I found if ESET was active I wouldn't find any working keys on blogs etc. If I disabled ESET I would have better luck, But I just purchase now as its very cheap.
 
I've bought Kaspersky keys from e bay sellers for the past few years, but having found that AVG driver update was brilliant really considering using AVG when my present kaspersky expires
 
Personally I don't do the whole antivirus suite nonsense anymore ,aside from eating resources I Just don't double click random exes. If you Feel you need one The combination of Windows Defender and Malwarebytes/hitmanpro should cover you.

like I mentioned before Malwarebytes is free for manual scanning (all you actually need). Also In the industry we commonly recognize the only reassurance that a malware infection is gone is restoring from a known good backup /Clean Install.

Macrium reflect and Ease todo backup images are both supported in the windows recovery environment and are free for your needs.
Just My 2cents if you looking to Swap antivirus/antimalwares. Also a virus is a type of malware for those unsure of jargon. Antiviruses specialize in particular viruses.
Avoid Avast products - Steals User information and data and resell it through their subsidiary
Avast Owns AVG
Avast Owns piriform also

Number1 prevention of Malware :Educate the end user.
