The attacks on Iran, have caused oil prices to go up and that affects ALL of us, with a negative impact. I understand that many of the population are sick and tired of being oppressed by strict Islamic laws.....women who removed their hijabs, were physically and mentally abused openly by the morality police and then they are arrested thrown into a dark hole, if lucky (if you can say that) they are released with only 1 eye. Those that were not lucky will die in prison.

This attack on Iran was unprovoked and I find it difficult to reason with this. As this was an unprovoked attack, Trump is now a war criminal and at the rate he is going, none of us will survive. I feel like he is trying to create WWIII with some of his actions.....Iran, Syria...who is next? Pakistan? I'm tired of all these conflicts some caused by western governments. I said that Starmer should stay out of this and any further conflicts that involve the US. It's time their government went their own way, instead of relying on other countries armed forces to help them.

Anyway, this isn't about the US....this is about Iran.

Iran was a democratic country once upon a time when the west replaced the leader with one that was friends in the west. How exactly did that go? It didn't did it.....he was overthrown and it'll happen time and time again because western ideology DOESN'T work in the middle east and yet they keep trying this sht.

We, in the west, should stay out of middle east conflicts etc it's not our place to put them in their place, it never was.

I am starting to get lost in the whirlwind of faceslaps flying around.

Some actually do find the right bloke, but the rest...

Iran has been at war with us for 47 years. Once they have long‑range ICBMs and enriched uranium, they are immune from U.S. retaliation. It was now or never. We can endure a little hardship at the gas pump to ensure our future. You can't reason with the mullahs; they left us no choice. They were offered free uranium for nuclear power, and they declined. That tells you the real goal is to ensure their survival, just as North Korea has done, An atomic bomb can fit in a backpack. Mutual deterrence means nothing to a religious ideology that welcomes the apocalypse. In times like these, we need a Donald Trump, not a Kamala Harris or a Joe Biden.

You have always got a choice to go stomping over another oil rich country for greed. This has nothing to do with nuclear weapons, it's always been about the oil, just like Afghanistan was, just like Iraq was....I guess I could throw in their heroin too.

Why do you think Trump was trying to push the British government into restarting the production of oil.......Trump has screwed all of us, even those that do not live in the US. Our petrol and diesel prices have shot up all because he wants more oil and if that wasn't the case......why is he thinking about taking over the largest refinery in Iran and opening up the straits. To get the bloody oil. It's not a mystery.....Look at what the US oil companies have done to tar sands in Canada.

The Iranian people will suffer just as much if not more than they did before. Let's take another look at Afghanistan........who did they leave the government to? That's right the very bloody terrorists the west have been fighting for decades. What exactly do you think is going to happen in Iran? Long term conflicts screw the economy of every country involved, it screws with the peoples mentality, it damages employment long term, increases poverty, homelessness, fuels hatred......Last time the west got involved in Iran, the leader was overthrown by the Islamists and it will happen again and again and again. Western politics do not work in Islamic countries and never has. We are worlds apart in our beliefs, our morality etc etc

Making war on Iran has long been the most nightmarish move that a republican president can make. It's horrifying that it's happening now. It will not go well for anyone. Iran offered to have no enriched uranium at all, and was attacked anyway. Who would trust the American government at this point? Meanwhile, this is threatening to cause a global economic depression.

I believe there are around 4 million pro IRGC/muslims in Iran and the other 86 million are not muslims, cant stand them and want them gone. The IRGC have openly entertained the destuction of America and Israel and have no reason to complain that they are now being wiped out. They have actively taken the country of Irans income and spent it on funding terrorism around the world causing much chaos and death. The fuel price went up the day the war started so from my point was more opportunist - ie an excuse to make a buck in a tight financial world rather than because oil prices rose.

Droid - America is by far the biggest oil producer in the world and have increased production over the last few years. The comment America is invading other countries for oil is a lazy one. They may take control of Irans oil to stop funding the IRGC terrorists but they are certainly not doing all this to "steal" oil.

Not really a Trump fan myself but he IS a strong leader making the neccessary strong decisions needed for the betterment of his country. They have had a succession of weak leaders since 2000's started. Too scared to withdraw funding etc because it might upset someone. America has donated more money than anyone else for many years to many countries and has got little in return. Those countries that have had funding taken away have had over 60 years to work out their own funding and infrastructure ie hospitals, schooling and haven't done it so I don't think you can blame Trump/America for that.

Oh and don't worry about Starmer getting involved - he's hands down one of the weakest Prime Minister's in history and he's self indulgent as well. More chance of a marshmallow getting involved. He'll be gone quicksmart at the next election.

I believe this to be a completely false statement. They now know that they were saying one thing with the negotiators whilst enriching uranium to a certain percentage only used for bombs. No country anywhere in the world wants Iran to have access to nuclear weapons. Iran has spent the last 3 weeks bombing all their "friends" and "allies". Hopefully they will change their tune in regards to Iran although they have been slow about it.

It's not lazy.....it's true, they do it with underlying issues....1. Oil 2. minerals 3. heroin (mainly afghanistan) - however, the US made deals with the war lords, they gave them information and they could continue their drug and gun movements. 4. To get more power in the middle east.

If trump keeps doing what he is doing there will be a WWIII and billions of people will be dragged into it. He is a war monger....just like most of the previous presidents.

I don't like the British government either for all the domestic struggles they have caused by knee jerk reactions to the "climate change", nope...."climate emergency"....nope "global warming".....oh that's right the new one is "global boiling". Anyway, I digress.....

Pakistan has nukes, North Korea have nukes.....what is the difference because I don't see one. Our Government sent most of our navy to Japan to protect them....leaving us unprotected 👍

1. your belief? So, firstly we need to see PROOF that they are building nukes - which we don't have.

2. I'm sure NK doesn't give a damn about whether Iran has nukes or not

3. they haven't been bombing their "friends or allies", they have been targeting countries that are supporting the US by having their military there....if they were true friends and allies they wouldn't entertain the idea.

4. going back to 1. Trump hasn't attacked NK and yet they are proper enemies of the west and like to fire nukes. Talking of proof, remember the second trip to Iraq, all over WMD's, which were never found to be the case and yet the British government followed the bs information passed on to them

Hello,

After 38 days of internet outage, I was finally able to reconnect and read the messages.

I want to share a few points about the situation here in Iran and explain what it’s like:

  1. On the very first day after Khamenei was killed, the IRGC carried out a coup and appointed Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba, as the new leader.
Where is Mojtaba now? It’s unclear (most likely he is in a coma and dying).
  2. Every night in the streets, scattered across the city, a pickup truck with loudspeakers plays nonsense songs and chants like “I sacrifice my life for the Leader,” and a few cars with the current Iranian flag follow it.
Why? Because the IRGC pays each of them to do this for one hour every night.
  3. Supporters of the IRGC are around 3–4 million people, mostly aged between 50 and 80.
Why? These are the same people who carried out the revolution and brought Khomeini into the country. The country became filled with clerics, and these people have been completely brainwashed.
  4. Every night in the city, checkpoints are set up where cars are stopped. They check your phone gallery to see if you have photos or videos of the war—if you do, you get arrested.
Then they check messaging apps to see whether you are connected to the internet—if you are, you can also be arrested for that.

At these checkpoints, you even see children aged 12 to 16 standing with weapons.
Why? Because they are afraid. They stop cars to prevent drone attacks, and they use children so that if something happens, they can claim that the U.S. or Israel killed children.

  1. State TV (IRIB) lies 24/7. Any news you read is presented in the opposite way to their supporters so they don’t lose hope.
  2. Strait of Hormuz: Why don’t countries like the UK, France, and NATO intervene to reopen it?
Because the UK and France are the same countries that hosted Khomeini in exile for 15 years and later sent him back to Iran for the revolution. They have benefited financially from the clerical regime over these 47 years.

I see news about how Muslims sent to these countries through the clerical system are spreading and how their security is being threatened.

These countries are concerned about energy prices—they should step in to reopen the strait; otherwise, I see no reason for their inaction.
The people of Iran are extremely angry at the UK and France.

The United States has its own oil, so it is not concerned. In my opinion, it’s not really their responsibility if these countries face rising costs—they should handle it themselves and deal with the consequences.

  1. Turkey: Several missiles have been fired toward Turkey so far, but why aren’t Turkey and NATO responding? It’s obvious—they would lose their position as a major tourism hub if Iran becomes free.

In terms of history and tourism, Iran is far superior to Turkey.

Within the Iranian government, there have been serious conflicts between the current president, Pezeshkian, and Vahidi, the head of the IRGC, because the country should not be under Vahidi’s control after the coup.

Why should they not have even the smallest amount of uranium?
Because 2–3 months ago, during protests, they killed 40,000 of their own people in just two days. If they had such power, no country would be safe.

Sorry for the long message, but I live in Iran and felt I had to say this after finally getting connected again after 38 days.

Just know this: you are not in Iran to see the crimes that have been committed over these 47 years. We have seen things that are beyond description. That is why many Iranians feel relief at the attacks against the regime—they see them as less severe than the crimes of the clerics.

To the point that even someone like me, who has just connected to the internet, could be killed for it.

Be certain that when Iran is free, you will hear about crimes that you will not even be able to believe.

Absolutely fantastic message Dariush, and most reasonable and rational folks are hoping that peace will soon grace your country and prosperity and freedom will return.

Your country has endured much turmoil and the people deserve the opportunity to be free of an oppressive government, that only works for those in power or seeking to control others.

Please keep us posted and know that the silent majority is desperately hoping that justice will prevail in your struggle.

I'll do this one in two. The western governments have benefitted from Iran since they first put a western loving leader, who turned out to be a dictator, was overthrown and then the clerics took over.

The British government are destroying our country from within, we have the north sea oil fields and the British government have closed them down....means we are relying on other countries for our oil now, several years ago it was briefly mentioned on the internet that the UK will end up a third world country and that is exactly what is happening. Poverty and homelessness continues to rise, in the meantime the British government are sending billions to countries with worse pollution than ours. The pollution...we aren't even in the top 15 countries that cause pollution. The labour government and the previous 4 conservative governments haven't given two sheets about us. New EU agreement made keeping us inline with their rules, regs and laws (something the majority of the British voted against) - when all we wanted was free trade without being penalised, new agreement with the ECHR, signing the net zero agreement, signing the freedom of movement agreement - which in essence means 3rd world people can move more freely in the countries that signed it....and the British Isles is where they seem to end up. Paying France billions to stop the illegal immigrants (as defined in British law, yes that's right it's in the law and multiple governments have broken that law) and did they NOPE. They are still letting them cross now......still giving out money to other countries, robbing the British public and it doesn't matter if you're on a pension, disabled or even terminally ill children. They have given in to US trade department aka big pharma by agreeing that the NHS has to buy the medications at retail price, this will cause multiple issues for patients. The UK has gone to the dogs and is being run by Totalitarians....they don't care who they steal money from as long as you do as you are told. This is not a Pagan nor Christian country anymore......17% of the population are Islamic, 0.5% is jewish and yet all our supermarkets sell halal slaughtered meats without any labels on and a lot of people are up in arms about it. 17.5% of the population dictating to the other 82.5%....madness.

Honestly, if I was an immigrant or a refugee....I would not come to the UK....you might get a couple of nights in a hotel with everything paid for and then, well, house building efforts are gaining speed but for some reason the homeless are still going up.

I was in contact with a group on facebook and they were the women who wanted freedom for their hair....I've heard the horror stories, seen some of the photos of the "authorities" handy work and if that's how they treat women, they deserve to be liquidated without prejudice or as the famous words go......round them all up in a field and bomb the bastards!

I want to see the Iranian people freed from the cleric dictators, I just worry that if it doesn't happen the Iranian people are going to suffer even more than they have been, I know that will take some beating but I'm sure the clerics will dream up even more medieval and primitive torture.

@Dariush Keep your head down, keep safe and tell your friends to do the same...last thing you need to do is disappear never to be seen again. It's good that you can keep us up to date, when you can. I was hoping that opening this thread will get you to partake, I'm sure there are others here that live in Iran but maybe not want to take the risk.

Reading newspapers causes bias thoughts about whatever the political picnic, it is trying to present. Word of mouth is far better

@Dariush thank you for your brave comments. we all hope you are safe and get back to posting great content.

Iran has been lying to the world and supporting terrorists for 47 years. the regime declares death to Israel and the US. Trump is the only president that had the balls to attack Iran and destroy their capability to launch attacks. many Americans and Israelis have been killed by the regime.
NATO is a feckless org and is now useless. the US should withdraw it's support and halt all funding. now we know Iran has the capability of long range missile attacks. they have been attacking countries in the region.
most of the Iranian leaders and many IRGC militants have been eliminated and the people must take back their country. as Dariush said thousands have been killed by the IRGC.
if Iran did possess a nuke they would not hesitate to use it on Israel. anyone trusting Iran is nieve. they have proven to the world that they can't be trusted. Iran's capability to wage jihad is coming to an end.
America saved Europe in 2 world wars and now we stand with Israel to defeat Iran, without the support of countries that "WE" saved.
there is no doubt that the IRGC will be defeated and the Iranian people will get their country back.
the dems in the US are attacking Trump for launching this war. even though past presidents and members of congress are on record saying that Iran must be stopped.
the only ally America can depend upon is Israel, the rest are worthless. why are the libs not protesting the thousands of Iranian's being slaughtered by the IRGC? instead they have ridiculous "NO KING" protests.
the EU and NATO are no longer allies of the US.
i support the total destruction of the IRGC and the regime. i also support our president.

this is why the EU and UK will not support Trump

@Dariush posted this as the IRGC began slaughtering it's citizens
this is the truth in Iran

Thank you all so much for your support and kind words.

I was finally able to reconnect to the internet again and read your messages.

Many of the things you are saying are true, but I want to explain something important from my perspective and from many people here.

We do not see ourselves as Muslims. Here, you are considered Muslim by default just because you are born here, not by choice.

We are not Arab; we are Iranian, with our own history and identity. Many people believe that Islam was forced on this country through war centuries ago.

If you have seen videos of Iranians around the world during previous protests, you probably noticed something important: there was almost no violence. In many countries, Iranians even gave flowers to police as a sign of respect for protecting them. That was a very meaningful moment for us inside Iran.

We want change, but we are not people who want chaos or violence. Most of us just want a normal life, with freedom and dignity.

Tonight, state TV said something shocking. They claimed that tomorrow Iran’s deadline ends and Trump may target infrastructure like power facilities. Then they told people to gather around power plants so they would not be attacked.

It sounds unbelievable, but this is the kind of messaging people are receiving.

let's hope that the Iranian regime realizes that the only way out of this war is to agree to the terms of the cease fire. it will take decades to rebuild Iran.
stay safe my friend @Dariush

Oh I know quite a lot about the history of the middle east...for example the black rock was moved to it's current position from where it originally was at that was more west than most people know or what to acknowledge.

Anyway, I hope things improve, I'm not so sure after seeing the demands of the Iranian regime, in exchange to reopen the suez, which is illegal the Suez doesn't belong to the Iranian regime. If that idiot agrees to their demands......it shows that the Iranian regime has more power over the US than meets the eye.

it also means you will be left with a cleric regime, that is just as bad as the last one. So, nothing will change in the long run, which is what I was worried about in the first place.

When the western forces left Afghanistan, it was left in the hands of terrorists and hardcore clerics...something that most of the population didn't want. However, at least it is being run but people from Afghanistan ish lol

It's not lazy.....it's true, they do it with underlying issues....1. Oil 2. minerals 3. heroin (mainly afghanistan) - however, the US made deals with the war lords, they gave them information and they could continue their drug and gun movements. 4. To get more power in the middle east.
Actually it's not true. Not true at all. Again America doesn't steal oil - they are the biggest oil producer in the world. For an example - America has the worlds largest supply of Apples - more than they need - more than they can ever use. Let's start a war with England to steal all their apples because???? Just an old accusation started way back in the late 80's got stronger in the late 90's again. Again I think it's a lazy argument with no evidence to back it up.

Minerals not really a thing either. The US have recently been offered a large rare earth minerals deal by Ukraine in exchange for military weaponry support in their war with Russia. Accepted by Trump - and as he said "we should get something back for all the money were spending there"
Stealing it ? No. If they wanted to steal rare earth minerals badly enough they would have invaded Australia long ago.

Heroin? Not even going there mate lol.

Pakistan has nukes, North Korea have nukes.....what is the difference because I don't see one.
Although I don't rate either Pakistan or North Korea highly, their sole single purpose for existence is not to bring death and destruction to other countries. Pakistan has nuclear weapons as a deterrent to India who also has nuclear weapons. India has had them since early 70's and Pakistan since mid nineties. Right minded people know that to use them is to die themselves. That is the whole point of having them. That is what is referred to as the "nuclear deterrent"
Islamic leadership of Iran are not in the same boat. They want them purely for the destruction of Israel and America period. Again - it can't be allowed to happen. If you check a bit harder you'll see envoys that were talking to them before the war that knew they were making them. They know how much enriched uranium they have and their ability to use it. There are literally thousands of operatives working CIA and Mossad that do this as their job every day. I said "I believe" because i'm not one of them.

North Korea is an estranged from the world closed dictatorship that believes they are still at war with the US. The rhetoric has died down somewhat since Trump visited and told them "we've moved on long ago".

1. your belief? So, firstly we need to see PROOF that they are building nukes - which we don't have.

Unless you become a high ranking official in Government - you will never have the "proof" you are looking for. That kind of information is kept private for good reasons.
They have been bombing civilian areas, and infrastructure not just military bases in those other countries. So that argument falls apart also.

The Iraq war was a different government in a different time so cant compare the two in any way. Bush and co. were pure shit though i'll grant you that. I'm quite certain the British government followed US into Iraq for reasons other than WMD. Remember Bush's siren call " You're either with us or against us" Brits went "with us" as did Australia.

Yes there has been indiscriminate bombing from Iran but so have the US, UK, and everyone else that has been involved in a war since before WWI

There is NO proof, never mind that, I'm not a government official with the right clearance.....there was no proof of WMDs in Iraq.

Yes we can compare Iraq and Iran....both their leaders have absolute power over the country and the civilians that lived in the respective countries. They have both been run by ruthless Islamic leaders.

Trump like Bush is a war monger.....

America doesn't steal oil? you're having a laugh aren't you?

Every time the US has been in the middle east they have always have oil in the agreement. It's stealing, doesn't matter how it's sugar coated for payment to protect them.

Yes, the US did deals with the warlords and not just in recent years.....you can go back to Vietnam and the cocaine.

The US have done deals with terrorists and supplied them with weapons, training etc etc and instead of taking them back off them when the conflicts had finished, the terrorists used those weapons and training to attack more than just the US.

The US is always craving more power in the middle east....this has been going on for a lot of years. Before Afghanistan, Iraq....you can go back even further the first conflict in Afghanistan, nope you can go back further than that, how about Bahrein or Aden? Probably go back even further.

Next you'll be telling me that the France didn't help the Americans during the war of independence?

We disagree a bit on those points Droid.
They were in Iraq for bloody years and the oil is still owned and run by Iraq who sell mostly to China and India. American and the British oil companies were welcomed there back in the 1920's. America has given billions to modernize Iraqs oil industry after the war. Stealing oil ? No.

During war the attacking side will always look for allies in the country they are invading. Not everyone is happy within most of the time. They didn't invade Vietnam for cocaine that's for sure. Again you could go back to the start of time regarding wars but they mean little when comparing them to current times. What happened in the sixties is not relevant to 2026.

The US and Bahrain have been allies longer than I've been alive. Don't personally know of any conflict between the two - in fact they are close friends. Again the US is not stealing Bahrain's oil period. Nor Kuwait's. Nor Saudi Arabia's. Nor Brunei's. Nor Norway's. Nor Australia's.

No - I wont be telling you that France didn't help Americans during the war of independence. You got that one right bud ha ha...

There's your and the rest of the worlds problem explained right there...
wait so Iran hasn't been led by Islamic leaders that have been ruthless? Afghanistan is now led by ruthless Islamic leaders thanks to pulling out and leaving a vacuum behind. Iraq, I'm sure Saddam Hussein was a ruthless Islamic leader. Then there are other countries in the middle east that still hang, behead and stone people.....but they aren't Islamic leaders are they? I think stoning, beheading, hanging....etc etc etc is barbaric but it doesn't mean the west should get involved.

You can say ah well it's because of terrorism, some of that is funded by the CIA....of course you will probably say that's bs too

I don't have a problem.....I'd rather the western civilisations stayed out of it, western ideology has never worked in the middle east and it never will do, whilst the clerics (islamic leaders) have control of the laws etc at the moment.

And when the west do go into these countries......we end up with immigrants forever.

Can't just get in a dinghy and row across the English Channel, after all those SAFE countries have allowed them to travel through them to the UK where they stay because success governments have been too pathetic to stop it. Most of them aren't even war refugees, they are economic migrants.

The British get blamed every time one of their dinghies sink and the people drown......not many though, have a look at how many of them die crossing from morocco to spain, it's a damn sight more and you never hear about it.

Fuel for the vehicles over in the US is definitely lower than in the UK....since Trump administration/Israeli act of war on Iran, we have all been suffering over here with petrol prices through the roof and we are paying for it. Yes, the British government have stopped north sea oil pumping and that does cause a bit of an increase when we have to buy it from abroad but not like this and why because neither the US nor Israel prepared for attacks on cargo vessels going through the Straits and then expect British forces to sort it out when the conflict had nothing to do with us in the first place.

However, this is about how it's affecting the general population in Iran and whether they are safe and whether they get more freedoms etc that wasn't given to them whilst Muslim Clerics have been in charge and it's about how it's affecting people outside of Iran because of the actions of US and Israeli governments

I think you read that wrong. I quoted what you said that the problem is ruthless Islamic leaders. I agree 100%. Remember there's only 4 million Muslims in Iran. The other 80 odd million aren't really religious. The problem is violent Islamic jihad bullshit. Allowing it to go unchecked brings misery to most other parts of the world. Something has to be done. Trump/ America/ Israel are doing that. It's a good thing.

@deadlywill very insightful comments.

Trump has done what no US president had the will to do.
the objectives of this conflict have been defined by Trump, and so far it's been a success.
the comments by @Dariush tells the true story.

the US has one ally, that's Israel.
we should withdraw from NATO and the UN

Australia is your ally and has been for over 100 years. Our special forces will be working in the background in Iran somewhere. We usually find out after the war's over. We physically don't have the ships to help out in Iran. We have about 10 ships to patrol 60,000 kms of coastline. Not really any fighting ships. We're pretty much friends with everyone so no one attacks us. NATO and the UN are dead - couldn't agree more.

France has also been their ally since the war of Independence....when they helped the new world defeat they overlords.
