Catalytic Colnverter Question

The petrol stations buy the fuels in and yes prices can vary depending on how much oil OPEC pump out each day....if they reduce the barrelage, fuel prices go up. OPEC are in complete control over oil prices, that's why the US are pushing everywhere for oil, they have their own wells, they have the wells in tar sands, they have the oil rigs in the UK in the North sea, they have pushed for the middle eastern oil....afghanistan, Iraq...I'm surprised they haven't found an excuse to invade Iran lol We don't have that kind of back up.

Remember the fuel shortages in the US in the 70s.....caused by OPEC. That's what happens to other countries that have to rely on them for oil. Oil production should be reduced because its used in plastics, not because its used for fuel

As everyone has mentioned... heat, and a whole lot of it.

I remember when the heat shroud came off my brother's truck underneath, and the converter being as hot as it is, got the floor of the bed so hot, it started to melt the carpet.. so we had to rip it out of the truck. Needed to use a bag of ice, which later started to boil.. just to help keep it cool enough to bring the truck home and fix it.

A superb word picture Charvelx04!

The best solution will be to stop installing cat converters and exhausts and user an afterburner arrangement to burn off unwanted gases. Earmuffs may also be required...

I see no point in cats, when you have farmers using red diesel, HGV1,2,3, diesel vans, cargo ships, aeroplanes, open mining vehicles all pollute the atmosphere with more particulates than our cars.

No, they get too hot. Do like i did .. go catless. :-)
A visual inspection of the cat is required to pass emissions, just fabricate one with heatshields -- my friend did this.

Why can't catalytic converters be enclosed inside the vehicle somewhere so they're inaccessible to theives?
There was a local article on the News a few weeks ago, cops raided a place in the city and found over $1.5 Million dollars worth of stolen catalytic converters.
Why did every thief in the city know where to take these things, yet the cops didn't raid the place until there was that many and I imagine piles of them had already been processed??? Catalytic converter theft doesn't seem to be much of a priority for cops.

Due to rampant inflation, $1.5M worth of converters can be hidden under a single bed...

wish someone would steal my Catholic converter.
Mine is restricted & causing high exhaust Gas temperatures (a No No for diesels), so it would save me having to cut it out.

Woman accidentally runs over and kills would-be thief trying to steal her catalytic converter.
