There’s something seriously wrong with the current media landscape in Canada.
Why are they so soft on the Trudeau government?
Why are so-called journalists much more critical of Trudeau’s political opponents?
Why do media outlets often repeat Liberal talking points in their news coverage?
We saw this during the Freedom Convoy.
It was clear from the start, as trucks began making their way to Ottawa to protest government lockdowns and mandates, Prime Minister Trudeau didn’t want to deal with them.
So he labelled the entire protest as “fringe,” “hateful” and “far-right.”
Almost immediately, the legacy media took their cues from Trudeau and began writing numerous stories smearing the Convoy in any way possible.
By the time the truckers arrived in Ottawa, the narrative was set: these were hateful, radical, MAGA-funded, far-right, racists and yes – even Nazis.
Of course, none of this was true.
The Convoy consisted of freedom-loving Canadians who simply wanted change.
And the protest was peaceful – and even featured bouncy castles and hot tubs!
Why couldn't the legacy media cover the protests honestly and fairly?
Could this perhaps have something to do with government funding?
The media landscape in Canada has drastically changed in the last few years.
Legacy media outlets have become reliant on government handouts in order to stay afloat – and the government knows this.
Millions of taxpayer dollars are going to outlets like the CBC, Postmedia, the Toronto Star and more.
How can these outlets remain neutral and fair? How would they react if a politician threatened to pull their funding?

I'm not Canadian but i sympathize with the truckers that are just trying to make a living.

the question for us all is "why is govt against it's citizens"?

Trudeau is such a hump asshat. in the states we have a similar problem with biden.
liberal politicians care more about enhancing their own wealth and status.

the answer is less intrusive govt and lower taxes.
like that will ever happen
 
I'm going to take an educated guess that none of you really understand what is going on..its not just Canada, US, Europe, UK....its everywhere. The prices of stuff have been rising deliberately, domestic energy supply prices have been raised deliberately, flooding the car market with EVs that they say are good for the environment when the opposite is true, C40 cities, Net zero emissions, increased car insurance....this is a very large marxist movement and it has been created by the WEF. WEF's founder is the son of a nazi, WEF is only supposed to be a "think tank". One of its partners is the International Energy Agency, they advise people like Ofgem to cap prices at a certain value. I will take mine for an example of the lunacy.....My electricity bill was about £500 per year....then it jumped to £1300 per year, it dropped a couple of months ago to £1283 (the email I received said I'll be really happy about this news....was I fck) The International Energy Agency (remember I said a partner of WEF), well they advised Ofgem to put a cap on it....putting it ABOVE the £1300 which means the domestic suppliers will rise everyone's prices again! - this is nothing to do with Ukraine or Russia.
The UN secretary general is a special guest speaker at the WEF conferences and is in full support of them. The same secretary general put Iran in charge of women's rights, knowing full well that Iran has one of the worst if not the worst treatment of women. Every country that signed the UN migration mandate, basically allows third world migrants to move more freely through those countries. The UN told the UK we have to give immigrants illegal or otherwise a minimum of 3* hotels, when they have been getting 4* hotels whilst over 350,000 remain homeless! The UN has refugee camps that have NO running water, NO sewage and NO refuse collections....but expect others to do much much better. The leaders around the world went to the climate change conference where they all signed the net zero emissions agreement by private jet, then tell us we have to do this and that to reduce it, which will incur a lot of money (the uk isn't even in the top 10 of world polluters and we are not the biggest polluter in Europe either, that falls to the Germans)....this punishment is put upon the general public and they don't understand the gravity of the situation....it goes on and on and on and on every word I have said is true. It can easily been looked up on the internet, it will take a bit of time because connections aren't as obvious as they seem at first.

We haven't left the eu....that was just posturing for the general public, we were still getting directives from the eu and laws, then he (sunak) went and signed a new deal with the eu and the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). So, when we apparently left the eu, Germany started kicking out settled migrants that were let in some years previous...sending them back to their home countries. The ECHR said NOTHING, did NOTHING to stop it and yet if we try to send illegals out of the country...the ECHR say NO!

C40 cities - 15 minute limit on travel time regardless of public transport, cycling, walking or driving (15 minute drives in 20 mph limits), we are all being penned into areas, to make it easy to control us.

This is all marxism....divide the masses, section them in areas away from others and no way to travel outside of this because they want to take our vehicles off of us too, force them into poverty, mentally abuse them, appeal to people who don't see the bigger picture!

The Tar sands in Canada destroyed by the Canadian government for allowing the US oil companies to drill there! Most if not all the oil gets pumped to the US. Wanton destruction by humans because they don't want to do things a little cleaner. There are no oil slicks like that in the seas, not unless a tanker has its side ripped open or something. It has made native indians sick because the chemicals from there have been seeping into the waterways where they fish.

The ores required for EV batteries have child miners involved who happen to be getting sick from it.....all for what mankinds "skewed" morals?

So let's destroy ourselves and all the animals/mammals in the world....First of all let's mount wind turbines kill millions of birds worldwide, use covid lockdown as a practice run for controlling the masses, after that....send out an emergency alarm to everyone's mobile phone/device? I turned mine off deliberately so I won't get them ;) My phone doesn't go out with me unless absolutely necessary. I have no GPS/satnav in my car. I am not paranoid....just have a look at what the J Arthur the london Mayor is doing and he is the chair person of C40 cities aka 15 Minute cities.

This is all happening thanks to marxism, powered by the globalists, they want the great reset, which will make us all poor except those with the big money. Leaders have been puppets for quite some time now and nothing has changed unless the general public of every country under this attack on our freedom, needs to fight back.

There is no point moaning, complaining, whinging about what is happening because we are the ones that vote and unless the government are corrupt...like Zimbabwe and a few other countries...including Russia, then the people can complain, whinge and moan as they never had any say in it.

Everything that is going on around you and in government, c40 cities, WEF, the UN, W.H.O. the eu.....just stop oil (marxist) Blm (marxist) All these little groups have erupted at the same time leading to the WEF and the paymasters.

That is what is happening. Erosion of freedom and the ability to choose what you want to do, how you want to do it etc etc.

You'd be surprised. I spoke to someone and they talked a little about it, I informed them of something much bigger and there is already the start of proof of that. One of the councils will be limiting the amount of times you can drive into certain areas, 100 times a year after that you have to ask the council for permission! This is the biggest mass dictatorship. People go on about conspiracy theories but when they come true and become fact rather than a conspiracy theory, they don't agree with you.

Digital currency is the best way to control how a person spends their money....if they don't like what you spend your money on they can put a hold on your account. Some banks are already closing peoples accounts based solely on their political views.

In the UK the Department of work and pensions wants access to your account....yeah I can see where that's going (see digital currency sentence).

All those ULEZ camera's being taken down gently with a grinder, aren't just for the ULEZ charge. He (mayor of London) wants pay per mile to be brought it, when you go on a trip you have to do it through an app, that app will give you the directions on how to get there, if you take any detours they will come out to find you with handheld camera's to find out why and the recording will be used in court. I wonder who else had people like that working for the government. That's right communism. No conspiracy theory. Our ancestors were fought for our freedom would be turning in their graves!

Although Marxism is a form of communism, it comes out of Germany, the WEF founder - son of a nazi, Nazism was born in Germany and so was Marxism! hmmm

After decades of a primary Winnipeg thoroughfare being named Bishop Grandin, city council voted in March to rename the highway to unpronounceable Abinojii Mikanah.
Unsurprisingly, the legacy media has cheered this idiocy along.
The CBC claimed the aforementioned name alterations are “inspiring change”, while the Winnipeg Free Press claimed such stories are “teachable moment”.
It would almost be comical if we weren’t simultaneously excusing actual current violence against other groups.
Christians have been targeted since the “unmarked graves” story broke a few years ago.
No, no mass graves were ever found at all, but the violent left doesn’t care: 83 Christian churches have been – and continue to be! – targeted by arsonists.
Most of the legacy media shrugged their shoulders at this news, and Justin Trudeau’s own top advisor tweeted that the arsons were “understandable”.
This is the sad state of Canada in 2023.
People who donate to the peaceful trucker protest have their bank accounts frozen, while masked jihadists screaming death threats in downtown Toronto go unpunished.
All while the legacy media yawns.
The reason why the legacy media doesn’t care about these important issues is because they are funded by the Trudeau government.
Therefore, they care about what Trudeau cares about.
They will push his narrative, while ignoring ordinary Canadians.
 
As far as I know, Canadian news media have not corrected initial false, inflammatory reportage about the purported existence of mass unmarked graves at/adjacent to Indian residential schools, hinting of genocide. There isn't documentation of even one such site.
 
No I was not, but I have lived, married had kids, followed politics and payed taxes in Canada for over 50 years. So Buzz, once again I ask you. What facts do you refer too that are incorrect.

i was part of the protests in 2020-2021 at dundas square. this is across from eaton center. there was never violence for months of saturday morning protest. police were always there. in february 2021 the police started harrassing and butalizing the group ,as numbers dwindled from the bitter cold.i just watched a video of hundreds of hamas sympathisers flood into the Easons center and disrupt shoppers and businesses . police did nothing . the sympathisers were chanting death threats to jews, not protected speach

20 years in the EU , so not sure it's you're place to say otherwise.
I came back to the country I love.. to live quietly.
Don't knock it....it has not harmed you.... otherwise go back, if it's, so bad here.....

I am still awaiting your correction of any facts that I stated. You cannot do that so what do you do….. you start attacking me for posting something that you dislike. Surely this is not the way to discuss things. And just out of curiosity, what country do you assume I am from?

You seem to have missed his point entirely, which was actually relevant and poignant for this discussion – not that that surprises me reading your ‘takes’ above.

Nobody cares where you’re from, the point was, you’re an immigrant spreading hate about the country You Chose to call home. The supposed “laughing stock of the world” ( which I presume is one of your ‘facts’ 🤔 ).

That was the point.

The only one offering anything coherent in this "Nice discussion going here" is from the Droid, and while I don’t particularly align with his perspective, I do deeply respect his ability and willingness to share his ideals.

But your opening monolog (ignoring that it’s mostly copy and paste, and made up of rhetorical questions) is that you can’t trust Canadian Media, from the source ‘True North’ ( which is right leaning Canadian Media ).

I mean, this is literally step one of a cult, don’t trust anyone but me 😂
