should every one carry an electronic ID card? it has it's pro's and it has it's cons depending upon what your aims maybe? I carry one and it opens doors very easily saving time.

Nope....it is unfair to subject an individual to it unless they are from another country, in which case they should carry one for the duration of that time in whatever country they are in. The Italians have to carry one ALL the time and if they don't and are stopped without it, they are immediately carted off to a cell. I find it offensive that I should have to carry one in the country I was born in, where our name can be traced back over 300 years. Nah screw that I forget my head if it wasn't bolted on lolol

Similar to the US... here, if you don't have an ID (or under 18) and get pulled over, you can be arrested. Depends on the situation, and how difficult you make it being an ass to the cops.

If under 18, you have to be able to have someone vouch for you (parents/sibs)... and if you don't cooperate with the cops, more than likely they'll haul you in until they can ID you.

ID about what ?

I think the op is asking whether you keep a copy of your identification on your phone rather than physical identification. I'm not quite sure since his question is a little vague, unless he talking about a security chip embedded in your physical identification.
Me personally, I ALWAYS keep fake identification at hand, opens a lot of doors for me as well, even if they are locked. :)

Except to vote in some states....go figure. Gotta show ID to fill a prescription, go to see the doctor or put your own cash into the bank. We are living in cartoon times it seems.

I don't need ID for a script, to see the dr. Money deposits in the bank have to be made with ID otherwise how would the bank know what account its going into....we've had proof of ID for years, there was even a special card you could apply for if you didn't have any photo ID for shops etc Especially, alcohol and fireworks.

Most of the time I don't even carry a phone with me, let alone ID. I do believe this though.....before illegals are kicked out of the country, they should have their biometrics taken so that we know if they try to enter the country again. It would be immediate deportation instead of waging war with the courts of european court of human rights. There are no rights for criminals in my eyes

I believe the OP is asking if people should have a chip implanted on their person, sort of like the chips you put in your pets so that if they're lost, you can be identified as their owner. If that is indeed the question, I am against it in principle as it probably violates some right to privacy. However, in practice I see many advantages, such as automatically unlocking doors you are authorized to enter like your house and your car (it could also serve to allow you to start and drive your car). It could serve as your ID at the bank (just scan it at the teller) and to make purchases anywhere there is a scanner. You could have a scanner attached to your computer or an app on your phone to allow for online purchases, thus negating the need to keep that information on your computer or phone. It could also include your medical history in case of an emergency (only authorized medical personnel would be able to read it).

I'm sure there are other applications for such a chip, we'd just have to invent and use some form of security to keep crooks from reading your chip. Anyway, that's my take on what I think the OP is asking.

I have to put enough into my body already without having some kind of ID chip inserted into me lol

People are afraid of the chip, thinking it’s some sort of sign of the beast LOL if it was offered I would take it. I think the idea is cool and way more convenient. I think the less I need to carry around the better LOL.

I was not thinking of a chip implant but a chip on an ID card that can be read by a card reader if needed, just like a passport has a chip, but an ID card that can be seen visually (face and details) and used in a card reader. If you were born in a country it proves it and also if you have been in prison.

Not for me.......ID cards are just another way of controlling freedom of movement and I'm not talking bowel. Do you not think its bad enough at the moment? its not difficult to forge a passport or pay someone in the passport office that can create one for you. Everyone has a price, its just how high.

First the criminals steal your physical ID, then they steal your digital ID, your car keys, your house keys, then slice you up like a vivisectionist on meth and stealing your implant

That's what I thought you were asking, they have those for CC's, passports and next will be your drivers license I understand, including the "travel" ID BS when you don't even need it, travel ID to travel within your own borders? Easier to travel and prove who you are with just a DL and passport when going in and out of the country.
They do facial recognition in most countries when you enter customs and they ask you 10 f******* times if you have anything to declare, yeah, I declare you are a f***wit, can I go now ???

I think we all learned a valuable lesson in the movie, "Demolition Man" about retinal scans.

What exactly DO YOU insert into your body, we'd all like to know. :laff:

your gutter humour is not appreciated by me, so please tone it down. In the chat not so bad but to derail a topic of conversation with it, is just not morally correct.

I rememberat one time in the UK, every one was against having an ID card, to prove who you were you had to have a letter adressed to yourself to show where you lived and any form that had to be filled in verified by a doctor or shop owner, but later I think that UK residents had to carry an ID card if they wanted to travel in the EU ?

You carry some form of ID with you almost all the time when you are out, usually this takes the form of a driving licence or bank cards etc What we need over here is everyone that isn't from the UK should be forced to carry ID and can be asked to produce it as and when required.

how long would it take for a non UK citizen to apply for an ID card? it is now taking over ten weeks to apply for a UK passport. also the UK must have a citizen of every country in the world living there. it would be easier for all if you could have an ID card to show that you were born there, if not the goverment would pay the fare of non residents to go to Africa.

Oh you'd know who is English and who isn't lol The passport office has always been slow since time began people have had to wait, even if they went directly to the passport office...they would still end up being turned away in most cases. There are people that work in the passport office that take backhanders for passports. There is an ID card that you used to be able to get for buying alcohol and tobacco, fireworks etc. A driving licence is probably the next best thing to a passport as it has your permanent address and photo, plus what catagories you can drive and what points and when. In some ways its better than a passport for 1 good reason, try hiring a vehicle with a passport, they still want to see a driving licence. A passport is only worthwhile if you do frequent travelling abroad or at least once a year for a holiday. As a droid I can't have one...so I'm stuck here foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. :lmao: We will soon be at civil war, with all these illegals and other immigrants and it only seems to be islamics, now don't get me wrong I know some muslims and they are not like these new ones....thinking its ok to groom girls for sex, they think its ok to push their sharia law into our own laws.....several incidents have occurred recently...Teacher threatened with death, cinemas pulling the plug on Lady of Heaven because a couple of handfuls of Islamics said it was wrong. So, I'm not sure people should come here to be honest. Its so messed up with illegals getting 4 star hotels, clothes on their backs, food in their bellies, mobile phones to groom children etc etc If our government didn't allow them free passage to the UK we wouldn't need bloody ID cards.

If you drive like a moron and I see you drive like a moron I will tell you. That's how you know who is who lol Islamics will go and get all their mates, English....we're hard enough to do it on our own...well I am :D

So, this is how it is...British - can be anyone with a british passport doesn't matter if they are born here or not. English - born here, can go back generations etc etc but I'm not one of those racist pigs, I just hate everyone equally :D

We have plenty of citizens from all over the world that don't belong here too....they need biometric ID cards to be carried around all the time, that is the only way. The problem therein lies this......all the dinghy travellers who illegally enter the UK via france, dispose of all ID before they leave france, if we don't know where they have come from how can we send them back. They have mobile phones to call the people in the UK who are helping to smuggle them in....well not so much smuggling, when they were coming up on the beaches unopposed. It is an invasion, and that is war as far as I can tell. Yet our government sit on their hands and do bugger all to stop it. There won't be a Christian country if they continue like this, it will be Muslim for the first time ever in our history. The mayor of london has openly been racist towards the indigenous population and nothing done about it...not only that but he allowed muslim evening prayer to be chanted across London from the thames.....That's not favourtism is it, not much. It gets better you know how the LGBGTUVWXYZ want to be inclusive, well the mayor of london has put by millions to build an appartment complex for only the previously mentioned group of people....that's not inclusion, that's exclusivity, special treatment, whilst thousands go homeless. This is how we get treated in our own county. Which brings me to the LGBGTUVWXYZ group.....these also need to carry ID because now you don't know if its a man or a woman as a man or a woman, apart from the obvious like bigger hands than normal. This brings me to another group of mentally challenged people those that call themselves THEY, THEM and US.....tell tale signs of split personality but no one sees it. They will have to carry ID that is biologically correct not what they are afterwards.

This is why I said biometric IDs are a must for all those that do not fall into the groups of hetrosexual men, women, children and others that see themselves as the correct sex they were born as. ;)

Oh you'd know who is English and who isn't lol
but an ID card would also tell you if they were Scotish, Irish or Welsh, they are not English, but they all live under the same umbrella and have their differences, an ID card should not be used as a weapon but as a service to all that use them, also being male or female should be as it was shown on the birth certificate and would be shown as such on the ID card, if you want to be some thing else , that will be a personal choice and that would shown as a hospital entry if an operation was performed.

I'm not sure you fully understand the implications of carrying an ID around all the time......is it right that if an Italian is stopped and asked for ID and they don't have it that they get locked up because that is what will happen here and everywhere else. ID cards are a means to an end for the governments that operate one and its not for your peace of mind over who is what. It is easy to tell if someone is Welsh, Scottish and/or Irish and that is by their accent. Other people that are from the UK will also be able to tell, the only people that can't are those that really shouldn't be here in the first place and/or those that do not speak English....even though, to be a citizen of the UK you need to pass an English test....even that is corrupt as there are centres run by minorities who create fake bank accounts and get others to take the English test for them. Its a joke, the whole thing is, I'm beginning to wonder if I should get a one way ticket to France and then come back over on a dingy, just so I can stay in a 4* hotel, get brand new clothes, brand new phone, food in my belly ;) all paid by the tax payer although, most of them are too ignorant to realise this and think that, the money grows on trees and when they actually find out the truth they blame everyone except themselves. Just like the NHS are giving free gender reassignment for FREE! never mind all the people on the waiting lists waiting for life threatening operations. Like I said, its not their gender that is the issue....its their heads. Anyway, I've kind of run my course with this topic and just feel like the point although put across is not fully understood surrounding the implications of ID and governments.

When Canada legalized POT, everyone's attention was on the POT. YIPPIE, YAH HOO POT IS LEGAL!!!!!!!, meanwhile the cops/politicians quietly slipped in laws that gave the Police the power to STOP and SEARCH you without "Just Cause" and demand ID, CAN EVEN TAKE YOU IN AND STRIP SEARCH YOU and detain you pretty much if they feel like it, previous to that they could only demand ID if you were behind the wheel of a vehicle or matched the description of someone that committed a crime. (You would actually have to match that description)

I now carry a form of ID everywhere I go, so much for rights to simply walk down a street minding your own business.

Ring any Bells??? So much for progress!!

An ID card should be used to prove who you are and that only, the problem starts when you do not like the nationality or the birthplace of the person shown, then it can be used as a weapon by anyone who has the power to use it. The days of every one knowing each other who lived in the street or surrounding area are gone, now people living in multy story buildings do not know their neighbours or speak to them, people are becoming afraid of themselves.

I knew everyone down my road, then I moved and I still know the neighbours and most are on speaking terms too. London on the other hand......man, that's bad now....people don't know their neighbours anymore because of how things are with rentals, most of them only last 6 months, its like going into your favourite restaurant and the staff have changed since last time....they don't know you, you don't know them can make for a prickly meeting. Or it would have been like me so used to all the people I used to serve alcohol to and knew what they wanted before they reached the bar, completely forgetting everyone and their drinks lol

The only thing that helps is having a dog, that made a world of difference to this hermit. London used to be so friendly, everyone left their doors open, you could pop in and see them for a cuppa rosie lea, then we had a massive influx of immigrants, indigenous population became a minority and its stayed that way ever since.

I don't like what's happened to this country nor in fact what is going on in the world, The US making abortion illegal, school children telling the adults how to run their schools, fringe minorities getting their own way regardless of how fecked up it makes for the rest of us.

Here....the British government have signed a deal with Rwanda to send illegals there, now the problem with this is and there are many.....Serco help sort out who comes over and who doesn't but serco has a sitting MP on the board of directors, clash of interests is what I would say that is. Then, the french navy escort them to the middle of the English Channel.....so that the RNLI can pick them up or they are taken by border farce.....then they get put up in 4* hotels, given new clothes, new mobile phones to groom girls, money and food....then sent on an aeroplane to Rwanda, the tax payer pays for all of this......the government could just say feck off to the french and turn them round and send them back to france. Think of the BILLIONS it would save us but no the government want to bleed us dry first. Make us subordinates that do as we are told like robots.....well not this droid, he don't play nice when told what to do.

"I knew everyone down my road, then I moved and I still know the neighbours and most are on speaking terms too" and I suppose that every knew you too? (I hope that you did not break too many windows :D) an ID card was not needed then, but a NHS number was needed, which is a form of identification and needed at the labour exchange .

Who the hell carries an NHS card around with them, I don't even think I have one, I know I don't and yes they all knew me because I was the one that cleared the paths of snow, and I did some sort of property maintenance in most of them lol

uff...so much about an ID card...you should do it like we..you go wherever u want, without an ID, and no will tell or ask you anything, no matter if you'r Spanish, German or whatever.
Exceptions, if u get caught in accident, fight or something like that, you will have to the police station to be properly identified, the police opens a case file and you can go home unless it's a severe fellony.

On the other hand we can go driving without anything, drivers licence, ID etc...and the police gives u 15 days to go to the police station and present those documents. (this as already happened to me because of my son, but that's another story).

The point is we can walk freely and if something happens, we got 15 days to solve it...

This happens in the UK too but even that has stopped now because they have direct contact with DVLA etc and the response is immediate with the ANPR vans.....they check your vehicle is legal to drive on the roads. The digital world huh

"Exceptions, if u get caught in accident, fight or something like that, you will have to the police station to be properly identified"
and how are you identified? you have to prove your identity and documents are used for identification for the vehicle but how do you identify the driver?
" The digital world huh" and I agree as we are all part of it, but we do have some choice in it at times.
