Why are Rapidgator and Drop.Download the popular "Upload" sites?

So, both of these places are like the MOST EXPENSIVE to buy premium from... at around $15.00

1fichier for example is around $3.00... There used to be one, can't remember if it was 1fichier or another which was like $6, and it was like the most popular that people uploaded Large Games to. But now I can't find it (unless it was 1fichier), everyone is uploading to the above two sites, even for large games. Some of the places seem to have even "re-uploaded" their older uploads to these two sites.

Anyway, why these two? Do they pay Uploaders or something, and pay well? And thus that's why they are the primary places for Uploaders, thus why the Premium costs are so high?

I would rather pay $3-10 bucks a month rather than around $15.

If you are just a downloader then Real Debrid should be your choice IMHO

I tried one of those places which was one of the most popular and has been around a long time and the Rapidgator wouldn't work with Jdownloader when it was supposed to, asked for a Refund and they just RIPPED ME OFF, never giving it to me, even though I complied with their refund rules. Sent a request several times, and they just took my money and ignored me.

So, I don't think I'll EVER use one of those places again. Though, I know you guys have been referring that Real Debrid for some time here as liking it.
Though, I just saw the title of someone who's stopped using it, need to look for it to see why.

Ya, I'm like a power user, I literally have OVER a 100 Programs Start Icons/Tiles all grouped, sized etc. as I like alone.
And I sometimes download big games I want to eventually get into. So, sometimes I go on an UPDATE and Download spree of programs and games a couple of times a year so "free" doesn't work during those times.

BTW, the above is one reason of many of why Microsoft pisses me off.... their USELESS Windows 11 Start Menu, FAR worse than Win8's was.
Win10's was finally usable, just needing some more right-click options and to auto-install tiles when programs are installed, then we remove/adjust them how we like.
Damned incompetent mother *****'s! I'll likely never be able to update, and when I do I'll have to use some 3rd party program to get an actual "competent" Start Menu, rather than somebody's "personal" bull SHIP!

I use the the free version for Rapidgator as there maybe no other option and I have the time to wait as the files I download are small, but a lot of downloads today are very large and no one has the time to wait for them to download on the free version, EMS, if you are downloading large files and you are not useing a premium account you must have a key to another door to do it?? and I am sure that there are many friends out there who would enjoy using it??

That's one host and there a couple more I would not use the free version on.
50kb/s is definitely is not user friendly LOL
But there are plenty of other hosts that give you decent speeds as a free user

I refuse to use RG if I can not find any other host, which isn't very often, I ask someone nicely if they wouldn't mind re-upping it to a UF file host. Other than that I usually find my stuff with UF links somewhere in the universe of the www

Like on this forum, most links are those two or NitroFlare who's also a terrible downloader for Free (like RG), not sure about the "price", but only "some" links are they, so it's not helpful to have a premium account with them.
But, it's also essentially ALL of the Download sites, they almost only or primarily use RG and DD.

I suspect for RG because it has been around for a very long time and they have a of of users, therefore more downloads for the Uploader
I agree, I would put NitroFlare in the same category as RG as a free user CRAP! LOL
Not too sure why with DD

And that's why we started the Free User Friendly movement here; to allow folks with limited funds or access the ability to get the files they want or need in a reasonable time and with no additional outlay of funds above what they pay for internet access. So please make use of the User Friendly Hosts as each and every post is required to include at least one. If you find posts without UFH or with dead UFH, please report them so they can be handled by the staff. Thanks and thanks for using D/W.

RG has been around for a long time, way back when FS and RS were about. For the premium account holder they are supposed to be good but the thing about RG is they periodically purge files so you'll find pages and pages of dead RG links.

You guys appear to be overlooking RG's affiliate program which has been around for years. By way of history, a similar Germany based hoster called RapidShare had a massive share of the global hosting market for years, having built it's popularity with an affiliate program. Basically, people could receive healthy credits per 1,000 DL's of their files and for referring new users to RS. Ultimately, RS was subject to significant ongoing litigation that ended up in the Supreme Court in Germany. You can Google it if you are interested. The demise of RS led to the rise of Megapload which was also eventually shutdown by legal action against its owner, named Kim.Com. He is the current owner of Mega and resides in New Zealand still trying to fend off litigation. Anyway, other hosters naturally appeared and filled the void left by those two major players with RG aopting the affiliate program approach. Some users are able to make a living out of the affiliate program, but I'll leave it to some of the high volume uploaders to provide qualified commentary on that point. So, the reason that RG became popular is its affiliate program. I know little about Drop.Download but suggest you check to see if they have affiliate arrangements in place.

Like frisbee mentioned, RG is historically linked to THE biggest host "back in the day" when I first encountered da interwebs and RS. Guess I'm old fashioned but RG has my premium dollars and their links are all over the place. On DW, I'm basically guaranteed an RG link. Nitro seems the next most popular but, as I'm paying out for RG Premium, I'm in no rush to spend my cash anywhere else. The only corner of the web where RG really have little to no profile is in pr0n download sites (at least, the ones I go to...lol).

most if not all autoposters have a preium account with RG and you'll even see it on this site RG are deleted almost as quickly as they are posted. it matters not.....its all about DMCAs not whether a link is premium or not.

There are pros and cons about any premium host site out there. Each has it's collection that ranges from extremely disappointed users to those who have been subscribers for several long years that can do nothing but sing their praises. A few are primarily the haven for prodigious amounts of porn sprinkled with a small offering of more general use data while a small number of others, like Rapidgator that boast a long established presence, whose primary line of of users are seeking out and finding more current programs, films, books and audio, have loyal uploaders posting links in the vast majority of warez sites. Uploaded and Nitro follow behind from what I see currently.
At 27 cents a day, annual membership runs roughly 100 bucks, you get 12 TB of bandwidth to consume over the course of that subscription year usually at the limit of your ISP speed while doing so. I have yet to reach the annual limit and I consider myself a user with a hearty appetite for downloading.
If an individual wishes to spend time either searching relentlessly for free user hosts to obtain their desired product or are willing to sacrifice the enormous time restraints placed on available data for free users then no harm no foul.
I am one of the 100% satisfied direct annual subscribers to RG and have been for a few years now and think that for the price of roughly a US quarter a day the result of a cost/benefit ratio falls into the "very well worth it" category.

Do NOT use a RG reseller that does not give you full control over your account, you will get screwed one way or another with the reseller usually accusing you of sharing the user name and passcode with others in vague language when "your" account becomes blocked or deactivated suddenly before reluctantly assisting you.

Interestingly, one of the key issues discussed in Court in both the RapidShare and Megaupload matters was their failure to proactively monitor for obvious signs of piracy. Whilst RG certainly responds to DMCA notices by killing files, it clearly does little if anything to actively auto kill files that clearly are DMCA breaches. Have a look at some of the file names in links to of big name movies that have remained untouched by RG for years. Even Blind Freddy could at RG could tell what they are. With it now being rare for folks to encrypt RAR files, which was common a few years ago to hide content, it is easy for RG, et al to monitor a black list of popular movies, tv shows, etc. Despite that, RG are not proactive. Either they are operating out of a country that cares little about copyright, or their day in the witness box as Defendant won't be far off.

Alas, not all "Debrid" site are created equally. I have been with "Alldebrid" a full decade now and would simply never drop it(in it's current state)
I also use another called "Debrid-link" for those times when RG links are acting up. Thing to remember here is, that companies like RG et al hate these debrids, for obvious reasons. so it can be a game of cat and mouse.
As for jdownloader, personally I've never liked that one, preferring IDM myself.
