What ever happened to chat rooms?

I love the chat feature on here, I used to love chat rooms back in the late 90s. early 00s, are there any websites about these days that offer chat rooms?

I work remotely and it get's be bit lonely from time to time which my mind starts overthinking, back in the day chat rooms were so accessible. Only time I see them not are on dating sites which is of no interest to me. Used to be chat rooms like Tech Chat Room, Chit Chat. It's just come back to me mIRC used to be a great app.

Chat Rooms so need to make a come back.

chat rooms was a product of its time and worked for what it was but communication methods have evolved since then and spread across multiple channels and social media network. there's also a lot of bots, scams these days that it becomes more of a risk to have one than not

Was big on IRC (internet relay chat) back in the day. Not so much now - even tho IRC is still there. Many chan's are just static anymore with just a few ghosters lurking around in them. not much chatting going on... There still are some active IRC channels on certain nets depending on the subject matter etc.

it was more a time period, there are other apps like WhatsApp and other group chats now it made them disappear. Social media apps played a large part

AOL and Yahoo! Chat was great. Spent many an evening in the late 90s early 00s on chat rooms with a few beers and music playing. Chatting to people all over the world.

I used to be on aol chat, met a few of them face to face when we all met up for a dinner, I was working but popped in for a while, then I met more at a later date, even had a few extra curricular activity with a few of the women I was a handsome devil Droid back then.....now, not so much lol
