Things you purchase and will never switch to a bargain brand

Whether it's beer, cigarettes, electronics, or whatever.
Some bargain brands are almost the same as the premium products.
But let's face it, most aren't.

A few examples you might not compromise on are....
Razors (e.g. Gillette only)
Coffee
Deodorant
Because life's too short for dull razors, bad coffee and funny smelling deodorant.

In my case it’s cat food, naturally. As I explain on my site, bargain, no-name cat food doesn't contain the essential nutrients in the right proportions that a cat needs for good health. It's usually short on protein, vitamins & minerals, too high on cheap carbohydrates.

So, what things do you purchase and will never switch to the cheapo brand?

Like you, my list starts with canned cat food that has real meat as the main ingredient.

So, here is my list:

Cat food (Blue Buffalo Wilderness Grain-Free Canned)
Peanut butter (Jif)
Detergent (Tide)
Eggs (Brown, free-range, organic)
Car (Chevy Impala)
Vacuum (Shark)
Ketchup (Heinz)
Mayonnaise (Hellman's)

There are more, but that's probably more than anyone wants to read already. :whistling:

A few years ago, they recalled a product because of contamination. Apparently, the tanker that shipped the "Baking Powder" to NZ hadn't quite been cleaned out of its last carried item...

Anyhow... they listed the brand names concerned... there were two, the most costly... "Edmonds" and the cheapest... "Pams"

Since that day, I don;t really pay much attention to grocery items and always go for the cheapest...

However...

Things like razors... Gillette *BUT* the disposable type...

and as you have both pointed out, cat food... BUT... its not really based on what I prefer to buy them... its based on what I know they will eat, cheap or not.

The funny thing here is that they probably have decided that they like to eat the most expensive kind of cat food... namely, Chef!

As for biscuits... they have decided they like TWO brands... I always get the cheapest of the two unless I reckon they would like a change...

The brand they like is made in France...

Well, I used blades as a general example, but actually I shave with an electric razor, that has to be a rotary Philips.

And back on topic, some more things I won't buy generic are:

Bleach (Clorox)
Hot Dogs - all beef (Oscar Meyer)
Batteries - (Eveready)

Cats are always and everywhere on topic.

As for the OP, an example I"ve just thought of in my case is breakfast cereal: Shredded Wheat: healthy and tasty, especially with skim milk and little sugar.

Eveready batteries.... wow.... I buy rechargeable ones, but that depends... if the item is high power demanding, then the higher the mAh the better... failing that, alkaloids...
