About 30 years ago I was playing a concert in Buffalo with a legend I was on tour with. An elderly man found his way backstage somehow and we started talking. He told me he restored Hammond Organs. I told him I always wanted a Hammond B-3 with the Leslie speaker. He told me he had six of them and he would be happy to part with one (given my musician status). So we talked awhile, and I told the band I was going to stay an extra day and go check out the Hammond Organ. Turns out the organ was a 1955 Hammond B-3 with the original Leslie speaker. All original and in perfect condition. I bought it on the spot. I won't tell you the price, but I will say it cost more to ship it from Buffalo to Florida than what I paid for it. Now that's a deal of a lifetime. I still have that organ in my music room.
