Recommendation for particular food in Osaka?

Nope. I've never been to Japan :)
If you get the opportunity, highly recommend you visit. you should try everything especially if you got no allergies and dislikes. even if you got dislikes, trying again might change you mind about it.
:)

Planning on visiting this year. Any recs?
try everything :) especially when you don't have food allergies. most places have very high food quality.
try the onsen / public hot bath, just look into the steps you're expected to do before soaking. was initially hesitant but no one really minds you in your birthday suit. now when I get to visit, always looking forward to it. very relaxing after whole day of walking.

Just came back from a 14 day trip and this is my fourth visit but my first time taking a road trip and driving to visit four different cities over a course of eight days. If you aren't particularly picky about your food, just about everything in Japan will be good. From their konbini (convenience store) to premade grocery to fast casual spots (Hotto Motto, Sukiya, Yoshinoya... etc) to specialized restaurants that focus on specific dishes... they are all generally very good. I'm from the States and lived in California for most of my life with access to an excellent variety of ethnic cuisines and still think for Japan has some of the highest quality and clean food at very reasonable prices compared to the States.

Do not just use Google as your main reference point for looking at reviews. If you are a real foodie who has a higher appreciation of taste, then look at Tabelog instead. Their rating is out of five stars, and the reviewers are very picky on there so even if a rating is 3.5/5, it is still considered very good. Anything above a 4 is great, and above a 4.5 is excellent. If you aren't as particular, Google works fine although it maybe harder to determine if a place is a tourist trap.

Arrived there by ship, a japanese teacher who I shared room with told me I HAD to try okonomiyaki, he was right.
