New downloading laws would force pirates to walk the plank​

Internet users could find themselves in the dock like Game of Thrones' Tyrion, under new copyright laws from the Australian government. (AAP)​

Game of Thrones fans be warned: winter is coming, as the federal government plans to freeze Australia's reputation for piracy.

A range of new rules and penalties will force consumers to pay up before downloading files, including that of the hit TV series.​

I'm still all rather confused by it all.....let's just take Game of Thrones for an example...it was free to watch on tv so therefore if someone downloads it from the internet...technically they are not losing any money from it because as I said it was free to watch in the first place. Its the same with lots of other programmes too....they were free to watch, unless you live in the uk where you have to pay for a tv license which went into the pockets of the big wigs at the BBC, it isn't a fund that is distributed among the other tv channels. Blocking sites isn't going to work either because it just drives more people to use VPNs, so that won't make a difference either.

I sometimes wonder where these idiots come from, whether they were dragged out of some mental institution and told to talk bulls**t, push the bulls**t and lobby the s**t out of the governments until the bulls**t is spread worldwide. Oh wait that's not just about piracy, that's about everything LOL

Also companies like HBO have episodes on their websites to stream....
It makes it easier for people to 'rip' the streams because they usually lack the 'infomercial & commercials'.
If I couldn't be arsed with downloading, I just stream using Hotspot Shield to 'spoof' the viewing country...
