Hello,

A few days ago I noticed a sudden change in the look of DW. First though wasn't welcoming >>at all<<. For a few moments I thought the site was spoofed to a Tonka Toy site. I've been trying it.. Is there a way to get the older look back, that I haven't found? It's like what happened when M$ went from Windows 7 to Windows 8. I can't install a Start Menu replacement or some kind of software to mask this look. Is there an option I've missed in the (G)UI settings? I'd love to have the >>original look back<<.

Mean time, I'm sure this is just "it" because M$ sure hasn't changed back. So, if not, I'll...........deal with it. Like I "deal" with Windows 10 and 11 - though with them I added those Start Menu replacements and it helps. The previous look made sense, it was intuitive, and tight/slick. Not cartoonish.

Thanks for reading.

Change is the nature of life and adaptation is the key to enjoying it.

What was lost was gained in security, stability and keeping in step with the industry standards. Don't look to the past at the risk of stumbling in the future. You'll adjust to it and find things you might like eventually.

I recently converted to this same software on my site and the forum is better off now than before.

It was necessary to update the site, yes the look isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing to the eye as the previous version but as I said....it was necessary. Change is necessary, as humans a lot of you struggle with change and aren't quite ready to accept change, even if it could a positive influence.

I'm very well aware of change, and what it means to embrace it. I also don't *stumble* from the *past* as through I just awoke in 2023, that was a very odd comment to me. You might consider getting to know the person better before suggesting such a thing.

Security updates..have to affect the look?

Pardon me, but I didn't see the message before the change. I don't check Online stuff every day, and such. "as humans a lot of you"..?? Are you an A.I.? That was odd to me. I adapt to change well, you might consider the particular person more before suggesting such assumptions. I hope you're not an A.I.. Smiling.

"There no way to go back now."

Okay. It's a jump from Windows 7 to Windows 8/10 that can't be changed or enhanced. That's what I wanted to know, thanks,
Weaserlorian. *Nod* Sigh, but nod. :-)

No I don't smile....my emotional chip is broken. Sorry that you missed the message about the change over and that you might have been a little surprised at the change

It wasn't an assumption, it is from watching humans for what seems like a lifetime....

Pardon me, but until you pay for this server or if you are a paying pirate member here (and there aren't any, as this site is free for all!) looking for free stuff I don't think admin has to inform us of anything they do to keep this site updated, safe and secure for its members.

So please enjoy the site and the fact they are providing this site for everyone to enjoy!

As the thread has been locked, I'll just add this.

V1 of Xenforo (forum) had its limits. We went past them... like, way past them. On top of it, I'm sure v1's support was going to go the way of the Dodo, and the world moves forward.

This theme you're seeing now, isn't the end all be all either. Each is around $35/40 US... but until all the bugs are worked out, emots are back, smilies work, threads mesh, links work properly... etc, etc... then I'm sure more themes will be added. The last forum only had four... and I think it's format is what people were used to.

Anyways.. enjoy the show, and feel free to ask questions ... even if you think you may not hear the answer you'd like. :)

Charv they don't understand as long as they get their requests and downloads, nothing else really matters. What happens in the back room, they are not privy to and I don't think it matters how many times its explained, they still don't fully understand the complications of running a site like this. Maybe I'm wrong, but its not very often.
