LastPass - Password Manager, Form Filler, Password Managemen

Ok, so before a few days ago, I've never had an issue remembering passwords. But I had an issue with a provider so I decided for my protection to change all my passwords. But like a fool, I had a mental block and couldn't remember the passwords. :headhurts:


So I started looking at password managers, obviously, I prefer something 100 % free, so I don't have to worry about a crack or serial failing, etc and second way more importantly that its simple to use and doesn't slow me down when I browsing and going from site to site. I go to many sites and share and overall signing into different sites takes a lot of times I do not want an application to make the process longer for me or significantly slow me down.


But, this LastPass - Password Manager, Form Filler, Password Management, didn't do that at all.

It like a Firefox add-on. You create like an account with them, then you visit sites say DirtyWarez, after you login, a popup appears asking if you want her to store your password and if you want her to automatically log you in each time.


That's pretty all you have to do, each time you come back to DirtyWarez, she automatically logs me in, so she doesn't slow me down one bit.


I'm just passing this along because I'm very impressed with this program.

Thanks for the tip. But why do you have to create an account with them? Does the program communicate with them? If so can you be sure they don't have a backdoor?

Damn I never even thought about that.

I guess like with anything its possible, but after seeing 10k in reviews I figured it was worth a shot and has made things a lot easier.

The free services stores everything on your PC locally and encrypts passwords and only you can unlock with the password.

Their premium services lets you say download the program on another machine and then unlock your passwords to that machine and I guess one would wonder how it may be possible for them to get a hold of your information. That's out of my league so I don't know, but it sounds like theirs a lot of encryption and privacy.

We don't allow you to send LastPass critically important information like your usernames, passwords, account notes, and LastPass master password; instead your LastPass master password is used locally to encrypt the important data that's sent to us so that no one, including LastPass employees ever can access it.
We don't ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
We don't share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
We don't store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services. (For example: If you choose to store login history, we keep login history, if you choose not to, we don't)

I used to have an account with them, then they got hacked, i lost all my hotfile premium accounts, I am sure they must have beefed up their security, but having been bitten, i am staying well away.

IMO,Its Better to be within the system than cloud.

In Opera,it has wand manager and master password to control all. It serves the purpose as Lastpass.

I just recently tried Roboform. I am not a huge fan of it, but they offer an option to store the passwords locally. Why can't LastPass just store passwords locally. Just speaking out loud. LOL

My thoughts exactly when I posed my questions. If it can be done locally, but they want access to your computer, that's suspicious.

And yes, krishna is right about Opera solving the problem neatly and conveniently, that's how I have been doing it for years, since it's my main browser.

The truth of the matter is they can see everything they want to , we are 40 years behind in technology , to think a password stops access to any of the sites you visit from big brother , you are mistaken , IE:I have a you tube account , DrGoodgreens , I have received mail from my self , that I did not send. At that point I realized there is no true way of hiding what we do, passwords only stop the general public from accessing your information . Computers them selves have back doors that can be accessed at any time . So a program that stores passwords to make your life easier online or not , is fine . It will not allow your information to be shared to anyone who does not already have access to all of your information anyways. Thanks for the share , I was looking for something like this to make things a bit easier .
