Is anyone using Windows 11 and if so, do you like it?

Windows 10 works very well for me, but recently I installed Windows 11 on a separate hard drive to test it out and my feelings are very mixed:

Good things so far... well, I like the new sound effects

Bad things are that when I right-click a file, it's small icons instead of a larger, easily clickable row of text - I found a fix that involves editing the registry but it is hacky and doesn't seem to work on the recent files that you first see when you open Windows Explorer. I also noticed it seems the process of switching network adapters involves more clicks - wouldn't effect many people but it makes me wonder how many of these quirks there are.

Looking to see if anyone else is on the same page and hoping for suggestions on improving it

I’ve been using Win11 from the very early stages. It has come along way from its beginning but still has ways to go.

IMHO, the only significant Windows improvement was from W95 to W95a.

I would've said, XP to XPSP2.

Windows 11... where do I begin. Been with it from the start and currently residing in the Beta channel for testing purposes. I have the public versions running on three other computers and they are pretty stable. Beta.. not so much.

I have transparent right click menus (that aren't supposed to be there), Explorer crashes on a daily basis (it has issues with WEBP files)... and to top it all off, the last version of Windows to come completely themed, was Windows Vista. Windows 11 contains sections that still look like Vista, XP (icons) 7, 8 and 10 all rolled up into one. The Control Panel is still there, the MMC doesn't scroll with the mouse (don't think it ever did), Fax and Scan still looks like Vista, and they've done a recent change to Explorer.. going from Win UI 2.0 to 3.0. I could go on... trust me, I could go on...

All in all, it does work... when it wants too. The public release, thankfully, shouldn't have as many issues as the testers do, and be thankful for that.

If you like being the lab rat testing/developing an operating system for Microsoft then it's the one for you. Not a big fan of it!

I have been using ghost spectre windows 11 compact for months now and I couldn't be happier with it. A quick google search should get you all the info you need to get started with it.

Just remembered another mild annoyance. I move files between my PC and phone a few times a week and for some reason Explorer does not show the phone unless you expand or click "This PC" on the left. It's an additional click it might seem like a non-issue but these little steps backwards are a hassle.

It's an additional click it might seem like a non-issue but these little steps backwards are a hassle.

There should be an option in your user settings, I believe under AutoPlay. When you have your phone plugged in, go to those settings and change it to open Explorer for you when the phone is plugged in. I have my USB externals set that way. That option will show up every time you plug something new in.. so, if you want to change that, that's where it will be.
