So Boris Johnson flies to Glasgow to attend the COP26 conference about climate change, tells the world we are " a minute from midnight " on the crisis countdown clock before he then takes a private jet back to London to have dinner with a friend who is a know climate denier then takes a private jet back to Glasgow

his government has sought to defend this by saying the jet uses a special fuel that is partly bio fuel and less polluting but this has been rubbished by claims it has to be mixed with Kerosene which negates any benefits that the bio fuel imparts

maybe I am just getting old and grumpy but this all seems to be a case of do as I say and not as I do by the government

I am in my 60s and I must say our world is in a beginning spiral of the end.

I wont see it but unless drastic changes are use, we (humanity) are screwed.

This is a big topic these days as it should be but the powers that be (Big oil and Pharma) will continue to influence the elected officials.

Agreed here also. why spend a million dollars on a fuel when you could have met via zoom or another app.

They dont care and just feed us alot of BS while we as the people sit back and wonder where our next meal is coming from..

You see alot of people standing up for themselves but the governments say it is bad.

I must say it is time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.

While we will be dead and gone, we need to make sure our families can live and survive.

Sad but it is what is is.

Yes, of course the meeting would have been far more economical and example-setting from a distance, but I wonder who would have bothered without the perks of luxury travel, food and accommodation at the expense of those outside their “back yards”.

As for us being the last generation, those at the conference are the last ones to care. But their attitude is not original to today's politicians, it dates way back:

And stop! Fairs fair......MOST if not all of the leaders went by private jet.....including those that preach being enviromentally friendly but aren't. I am no fan of BJ or Johnson if you prefer because he has broken all his promises just like all the other parties do and I didn't vote for him either. We are not out of the EU, we do not stop fishing vessels from other countries raiding our depleted fish stocks ( The CFP - central fisheries program) give the UK less than Germany for sustainable fish stocks and yet the UK has one of the biggest fishing grounds in Europe but its ok to rape our grounds causing the price to go up, the CFP are an eu department. Oooo what about the eu moving the whole of their offices to france by road once a month for a week!...of course that doesn't cause enviromental problems does it lol India pollutes the ganges with dead cows, dead people, factory chemicals and household waste collected by the refuse lorries, china, built concrete cities that are EMPTY and the have built hundreds of miles of concrete motorways....want me to continue? Thought I would put a few things in prospective
