what is a human right? I know it tends to be political, but is it a human right to protest? some people think it is and some people think it is not, I have my own thoughts about human rights, but what are yours?

By Definition Human Rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death. These basic rights are based on shared values like dignity, fairness, equality, respect and independence.
Protesting is a Human Right and a Freedom of Speech Right. Some people take it to a border line of right and wrong thou so it is a slippery slope.

I'll give you all the rights you want, but your rights end where my nose begins. Or to put in another way, when your rights interfere with my rights, then they are no longer right.

this is the problem, every one is right, very few people admit they are wrong, so conflicts will continue, human rights have little or no value which ever way they are clasified.

Protesting: It depends how you protest. For example, the way Trump’s fans protested after his defeat was not exercising their human rights, but violating those of others.
Like many legal matters, it’s a question of definitions, which is then a question of who defines.
A racist will say, it’s my human right to dislike and avoid anyone I (don’t) want.
So an employer may say, it’s my business and I can hire and promote anybody I want.
It’s difficult to justify saying they are wrong.

Nar, an employer can rightly say its his business and hire who he likes, but an employer who decides based on race or sex is a racist & a sexist.
Human Rights are "Human Rights" , there is no avoiding this, but some employers live in their own world full of there own over inflated egos & believe they are answerable to No One.
an employer should be able to choose who he employs if they are suitable for the work needed and based on that alone. but people have their likes and dislikes and preferences, this will never change and so some people have to suffer for other peoples actions, I remember reading in my history books (UK) about children, 6 years old working down the coal mines and working in the cotton and wool mills, where were human rights then? they were never heard of and yet today the people who gained are preaching to others about them.
Yes it was shocking but that should not be allowed to happen again, & there are you Human rights.
Like the Kids who were ill treated in institutions of care, they had rights but until they started preaching loudly it was still happening.
I'm all for employers standing up for their rights, but I will always stand up for the ones who are inadvertently ill affected by their decisions & beliefs.
In my opinion, if we don't change our minds on these things,, then these things won't change.

I think that a human right should show that every one is equal, but the differences come from what you have and what you have not got, I have seen young children working, when they should have been at school, not because they wanted to but because they had to, people need money to live (or exist?) conditions vary in different countries, we maybe lucky? others are not.
