Since DirtyWarez has worldwide membership, the relevant law and the way it’s applied by the courts will vary. Of course so does an individual person’s reaction is such cases.

So the question is, if you confront an armed intruder in your house, how would you react? And if you kill him, can you be charged for manslaughter or murder in your country?

Assumptions: The intruder is already inside your house, he’s armed and you have the means to confront him, if you want to. Make any remaining assumptions yourself.

An intruder wouldn't enter into my house...well, not all of him/her would get in...I have no idea why that is (see avatar) lol

Lets say he was lying in wait after I got back from walking the dog....nope..can't see them hanging around to be honest...they would pick their own window for leaving

Much like eatmyshorts, no watchdog but have 3 shotguns, .38 special and a .22

All in different places in the house placed and out of plane sight and since there are no kids here, they are loaded just need to be pumped or cocked.

And I wouldn't hesitate to use one to protect my mother or myself.

Since mom has the .38 special she might be the one blowing them clear out the window :whistling:

Right next to the bed is a short steel bar. 60 cm.
I can use it to hit or throw it.
Either way if it hits an intruder it is going to hurt.
Self defence is ok but only until you are no longer in danger then you have to stop or you can be charged with assault.

The only thing that would stop me from going an intruder was if they had Miss 8 in their hands.

If one felt that ones life or a member of families life was in danger...according to the UK law...minimal force is allowed..therefore if an intruder was armed, then I would be entitled to do whatever I had to, to make the property and myself safe again. It is the word of the intruder versus the word of a good member of the community...There would be no doubt in my mind on what to do if I was ever faced with the situation..the intruder won't like what happens and IF they can still be dragged out alive by the ambulance crew...then they can consider themselves very very lucky. :D

shoot on sight, esp if it's in the middle of the night. (aint got a real gun though, so i'll have to use my bb-gun)

The question the OP asks can mean a lot of different things - Armed with what? Do I see him before he sees me? Is he a total stranger? And we all are going to have different "means to confront him" - I for one, don't have a gun due to the fact that guns and alcohol don't mix, I don't want to get really drunk and depressed one night and put a gun in my mouth because my post got deleted or I because I just can't find a 1080p copy of Pacific Rim.

But I think in any country or state, you can use deadly force if an armed intruder is already in your house.

I've got the means to shoot an intruder if need be and would do so if it was warranted, but the laws in australia are fickle for want of a better explanation when it comes to defending yourself, Like if an intruder is in the house and intent on harming me and I have time to go to the gun safe pull out a gun find the ammo and load it then shoot the intruder, then the argument in court would be that if I had time to do all that, then I had ample time to call the police. End result is I could be charged with manslaughter. Yet the law also states that I am allowed to use equal force or greater but only if need be! if I am being attacked in that situation of a home intrusion. I was once told years ago by a police sergeant regarding a real bad person in my area, that if the person broke into my home shoot him but make sure I kill him! "because dead men tell no lies" and to make sure he had a weapon in his hand, and if he didn't then put one in his hand.

This is not meant to change the subject but a good example

Several years back I was sitting right where I am now, 11 PM at night and the front door is right around the corner from where I am.

I heard that door open, till this day I swear I heard that door open but must have been my imagination. Anyways I get up, go around my bed and I grabbed the .22 that stays in the corner, clip in gun so all I had to do was pull the bolt and go.

Out my bedroom and did a 180 and flipped the light on as I turned and down came the barrel in the hand I turned the light on with and was looking at the front door. Took all but 2 seconds to spin and turn light

Nothing there, false alarm but I would have shot someone that night had they been inside that door.

First thing i would do is wonder why my alarm system wasn't triggered then i would probably introduce brick/baseball bat/fist/foot to face then throw the punk back through the door/window he came through
