OK, I suspect Microsoft did this.... but not sure....

Firstly.... just after an update.... I find my browsing was slow, turns out FireFox was now using a proxy.... turned it off....

and then, I noticed all this crap... turns out most, if not all of my addons had not just been disabled, but actually deleted.... :(

Sounds more like malware to me .. oh wait ... windoze IS malware. Sorry.

Seriously though, could it be malware?

yeah, that is what I thought... but the proxy went no where... all my malware detectors were left alone... they would have been the first target....

It's unlikely that a MS update would affect a browser other than IE.

Malware is the most likely cause, followed by (secret) use of PC by other member of household, followed by Firefox update, followed by unintended main user action, followed by cat walking on keyboard, followed by gremlin intervention, followed by extraterrestrial users, followed by mystery.

And...... I don't really care. It cost me a few days work on a website... :(

no matter who it was, they have a curse on them now.

Two brief remarks:

Firstly, the curse shouldn’t be indiscriminate and all inclusive, but the case of the cat walking on the keyboard should be expressly excluded.

Secondly, all these troubles are due to abandoning the solid XP.
