Hi, I Just thought I would share this.
In Australia since Covid the waiting list in Public Hospitals for most surgeries has blown out to about 3 years on average.
I was told that i had to wait 2 1/2 years just to get to see an ophthalmologist through the Public Health System, then you wait again for surgery. But it is 100% free.
I gave up private health a while back and unfortunately lost my sight in the last 3 years due to cataracts.
So, I had to pay or stay blind for three years +.
Now, it costs $2,600 bucks including Hospital for the day per eye ( lots charge $4,000) but let me tell you it's the best $2,600 bucks I have spent.
Imagine being WAY down in the dumps and Legally Blind on Wednesday, then having eye surgery for 20 minutes (mine was less) and on the Thursday ( the very next day) you have 100% clear vivid vision again. They cut a slit in your eye and remove the stuffed eye lens and replace it with a clear plastic version. No pain, no scars & no after effects.
That is what has just happened to me and it is amazing.. I still have my other (what I thought was my good eye) to get fixed in 4 weeks time which will be excellent, but having perfect vision in just one eye when you have been blind for a year is magic.
And in this instance "for me anyway", it still worked out cheaper than if I had been paying for health insurance all this extra time
