The Mrs went into hospital last week to have a growth removed from a finger.
Yesterday she had to go back to the hospital to have the dressing changed and the surgeon to look at it.
The surgeon sent a piece of the lump away to be checked and the results confused the attending and the surgeon so the attending goggled it.
They both read what the explanation was and were content with that.
I asked the nurse why they wouldn't know what it was and the attending said sometimes we have to rely on Dr Google for help as we don't always know what everything is.
Don't bother asking cos I have no idea what it was called either.

This puts me as such an ease......... NOT!.

It reminds me of this cartoon I posted in the Fun section:

On the other side, there's the guy who said, I don't need Google, my Mrs knows everything.

In the UK we use books as well as Medical Reference Websites.
Not everyone can know everything, that is why there are people called 'Specialists'.
The problem is when someone like you or I trust everything that we read on the Internet.
If that was the case I would have believed that I had Lung Cancer even though I really had a chest infection when I used to smoke.

I personally don't see any problem with that as they'll probably look at very reliable sources. It's just a way of referencing like some doctors using books.

Last year we were trekking in NZ. Ran into another couple. The Gal was a ER Doctor, so I was quizzing her on stuff. She kept mentioning Dr. Google.

I fear getting sick.
