Clever system

I received a letter today from our electricity provider claiming i had recently contacted them about the £177 i owe them, since this is totally untrue on both counts i spent 20 mins in a queue to call them

after another 40 mins on the phone i was told they have no record of the letter and i do not owe them anything, so i questioned how i received the letter and they insisted that no letter can be sent without it being authorised by a human, but i am looking at it now i pointed out yet again

oh " The System " must have sent it itself was the reply, i couldn't be bothered to recap on their previous claim that the system cannot send anything without human interaction, god i hope the machines never take over...but then again maybe it might improve things

Why don't you scan the letter and email it to them to get a verifiable paper trail started that states no funds are owed. Written confirmation goes much farther than details of a phone call made days long gone....just in case it pops up in 90 days with overdue charges on the fictitious outstanding balance showing in the archives.

That is a very good idea, i did ask for it in writing but of course they claim customer services are unable to issue letters or emails which i find strange, when i brought
up the possibility of " The System " escalating it and adding charges he assured me that it cannot happen ( Oh Yeah ) and that all calls are recorded and can be easily
retrieved, i will email it back to CS as that should instigate a response to say it all a mix up

If it were a scam, it would ask you to pay into a different account from that of the electricity provider, so check that.

As for the system being to blame,
The Computer is a great invention: There are just as many mistakes as before, but now they are nobody’s fault.
