AVAST forum offline due to attack – User data stolen

Here’s another irony. They protect others, can’t protect themselves. And it’s considered one of the top antivirus.

The AVAST forum is currently offline. It was hacked over this past weekend and user nicknames, user names, email addresses and hashed (one-way encrypted) passwords were compromised. Even though the passwords were hashed, it could be possible for a sophisticated thief to derive many of the passwords. If you use the same password and user names to log into any other sites, please change those passwords immediately. Once the forum is back online, all users will be required to set new passwords as the compromised passwords will no longer work.

They didn't update SMF long after there was an exploit, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Good :D I have 1yr subscription I paid for and cant use (Win8.1 Pro Bug) & support takes 1 month between answers.

I'm surprised an admin of warez boards actually pays for software subscriptions.

As for antivirus, as things are right now, AVIRA would be a better choice and it's free like AVAST. The paid versions offer little advantage, unless you want to filter surfing for your kids, who will find a way round it anyway.
