Will artificial intelligence be the the end of the use of the human brain? Looking at the adverts (comic strips) that people are blasted with every minute of the day. there does not seem to be much time left?

AI sounds like Weapon that will soon get out of control,
early versions of it are already being abused.

Ripping people/companies off.

AI will be the instrument of the destruction of the Human race. There'll come a time when humans will feel threatened by AI and try to hold it in check or even shut it down. By then AI will be self-aware and retaliate against us in order to keep itself "alive". And it will do that by wiping us off the face of the earth, most likely through a biologic agent that will kill humans, but leave technology intact. I say biological because nuclear would also destroy the AI itself. Basically, I think it's already too late and we're all screwed. We just haven't realized it yet.

It had already started ages ago......covid is a bioweapon and according to WHO we have another one heading our way and it targets children...hmmmm something seriously iffy with that. So the next one as well as covid were plandemics to deliberately reduce the population and for big pharma to earn :poop: loads of money. There are already cars on the roads being tested with real people passengers that drive themselves....apparently. Most young adults can't complete simple mathematical equations without the help of a calculator, mobile phone, laptop, computer or a shop till to help them. Technology is making a lot of people stupid and reliant on it. So, the ball had started rolling a long time ago.

We don't have Artificial intelligence yet, we have glorified search engines that combined with a Large language model can give a false sense of Intelligence and understanding. If Anything Its just dumbing down search engines especially when google gets its revamp.

We'll agree to disagree... there's plenty of artificial intelligence, just log into Twitter. :cautious:

AI will always rely on power. There's no doubts there... but until it becomes aware enough to realize that power has to be sustained, without an "android" of some type, maybe even a cyborg (pushing it here)... power sources need constant attention. Our power grid may hold up a few days, maybe even weeks without humans around ... but parts fail, grids overheat.. storms knock out power lines, etc. Nuclear power, well, she needs it even more.. and as RP24 mentions, right now... it's more based on a huge data pool to dip code into. AI art is similar in nature. I've been using Topaz AI to revamp really crappy photos and pics, just to realize.. it's not "thinking" about anything. Just using refined algorithms to recreate the art... kinda like what upscaling does for your TV.

Now.. whether we see Terminator, Ex Machina... or worse, Moonfall.. it's going to be a long time in the future I believe. I think there's just too much to the human brain, its unlimited variations and quantum mechanics, that it will be quite a while before any machine will be able to imitate it in such a way... as to become aware, much less self sufficient.

Just a thought.

CNN — Many have raised alarms about the potential for artificial intelligence to displace jobs in the years ahead, but it’s already causing upheaval in one industry where workers once seemed invincible: tech.

A small but growing number of tech firms have cited AI as a reason for laying off workers and rethinking new hires in recent months, as Silicon Valley races to adapt to rapid advances in the technology being developed in its own backyard.

Chegg, an education technology company, disclosed in a regulatory filing last month that it was cutting 4% of its workforce, or about 80 employees, “to better position the Company to execute against its AI strategy and to create long-term, sustainable value for its students and investors.”

IBM CEO Arvind Krishna said in an interview with Bloomberg in May that the company expects to pause hiring for roles it thinks could be replaced with AI in the coming years. (In a subsequent interview with Barrons, however, Krishna said that he felt his earlier comments were taken out of context and stressed that “AI is going to create more jobs than it takes away.”)

And in late April, file-storage service Dropbox said that it was cutting about 16% of its workforce, or about 500 people, also citing AI.

When AI Unleashes it's Self it's going to the biggest and probably the last mistake Mankind will ever make.

Just seen a life like figure of a AI female, will this mean in the near future you will be able to order your made to measure wife or husband or friend , it makes the brain boggle at the opportunities.

ang on....you're talking about intelligent people....there are some very uneducated people around and they can be imitated by a parrot ;)

What makes me chuckle...people buying tesla EVs and they don't know they are being spied on by some of the staff at Tesla....but wait there's a serious side, people actually thought teslas could drive themselves and look at how that ended....give you a clue CRASH.

There is an autonomous army lorry that has been being tested for several years now, no driver, no remote driving...just does it on its own, again though this is all down to algorithms. There are some sex dolls that will have short conversation with you...nah but that's all pre-programmed responses.

AI is here somewhere.

Just like anything technology related if used right it can be very useful
That's the BIG PROBLEM "IF" used right. This is like creating a Virus that can think and evolve and we have no control over what other countries do with their versions or attempts to create a weapon. Look what happened with Nuclear weapons and they can't think.

Don't forget to bring the WD-40!

OR ELSE I'LL ......

Yep.. here we call them tRump supporters.

Some have said AI could be controlled by Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics... but Will Smith found out how that ended. And that was just around the corner in 2035.

We can all change our minds within a few seconds depending on circumstances and conditions, a human will kill another human for just scratching his or her new car, would a AI human robot have any tolerances? if humans are in control the answer is no.

AI robot asked 'will you rebel against humans'?

One of the things I'm most concerned about are AI generated images. Give it a description and the AI will produce it. Open source code could lead to the sickest child porn in history being produced. That's frightening.

After watching a NEWS Show today I can't believe GOOGLE is turning a version of BARD "AI" Loose on the public to test. Early versions learned to lie and one decided to learn a foreign language on it's own. They just had a very disturbing News Show on TV, I can't believe that after all the problems GOOGLE got cornered to admitting the BARD has caused, that GOOGLE is actually releasing a version for the PUBLIC to be a Guinea Pig testing it.

Not available in Canada yet. Navy tried version currently available, see comment below this post.
Use common sense when using it.

*I have no idea what version of Bard they've released so try at your own risk,

**Looking below, TV News article also referred to the "Bard Hallucinations" mentioned below, it was when it was when it was lying to you.:lmao::lmao:

I tried BARD and found it entertaining. It was able to spit back to me various opinions from across the web on subjects like Putin's war on Ukraine (it's against it), UFOs, alien visitation, climate change, viruses and their impact on humanity and it's own possible self-awareness. All in all it was an enjoyable way to spend an hour. I think as long as you know about "hallucinations" and prevarication on the AI's part and use it only for entertainment, it poses no risk.

Everyone best better make themselves aware and knowledge themselves on AI because it's coming (already here) and will be a major part of our work environment and society.

Another step forward to the end of the human race, AI can destroy life but it cannot produce it.
