The State of Confusion
I was visiting a friend at the hospital today who had a stroke (he is fine, and will be released on Friday). While walking down the hall, a man stopped me after seeing that I had a Purple Heart lapel pin, and wanted to shake my hand. As we did he placed into it a challenge coin. I looked down at it, and then up into his eyes... at that moment I saw "that itty bitty little ribbon", I felt so honored that a Medal of Honor awardee wanted to shake my hand!

Holy crap Farq. That is SO freakin' cool. I truly don't know what I would do if that happened to me. You, my friend have some very good karma. Can you post a pic of the challenge coin? Glad to hear your friend is doing better.

That is awesome!

I know it may sound corny to some.. maybe not everyone in the military appreciates it, but I still take a moment to thank those in uniform. Truly, the very least we can do.

Be my pleasure. Remember this, if someone shows you one, or says the know someone who won one that says "Congressional Medal of Honor" it is/and the person is a FAKE! There is not nor has there ever been such a medal, (it is an "award") (you do not 'win' one, you are 'awarded one') such as the 'CONGRESSIONAL' Medal of anything.

Congress has NOTHING to do with the awarding of the medal.

Also, NO ONE IS REQUIRED to salute someone who was awarded one, that is a fallacy. It is a sign of respect to recognize "The Medal" but never the person wearing it. But again, it is NOT a requirement to do so; recognition is all that is expected.

I did not photograph the back of the coin on purpose, as that side has the awardees name engraved; and out of respect I am not going to publish his name, etc... I am sure you understand.
