I was at a drive-in movie theater in Muskegon Michigan, the Getty Four. It was always a double feature, and while I don't remember the first movie, I know it was the reason i went to the movies that evening. For the second feature, I picked The Matrix. I'd heard of the movie but didn't know anything about it. I was sitting in a lawn chair in the back of my pickup and I remember going from just chilling watching a movie, to OMG WTF am I watching! The most captivated I've ever been watching a movie. To this day I make it a point to not watch trailers for movies I know I want to watch so I go in blind.

What movie blew you away by surprise?

I wish I would've seen The Matrix in theaters, it sounds like an awesome experience, especially if you didn't know what you were in for. For me, I think it would be Bullet Train. The trailer portrayed it as some sort of action / adventure movie on a bullet train, so I assumed it would be another "murder" who dunnit but on a train. Boy was I wrong. I was blown away by the cinematography, fantastic acting, plot twists and adventure of it all. It was one of those movies that use the fact that it's a movie telling a story to it's advantage and have fun with it. Hard to describe, but I imagine you'd know what I mean if you've seen it. Would highly recommend as I feel it's one of my favorite movies to come out in the past decade.

I'm so old that I was eating my lunch at the Sydney Opera House while the stuntmen were flying about on a long rope tied to a helicopter. At the time i was saying to myself " What the hell's goin on there?" which I later recognised as this scene when i watched it in the theatre.

I don't do movies much, but I used to back in the day. Theres many obvious reason for this, but there are definitely movies worth doing to see in the actual cinema, and The Matrix was one of them. I saw all three in the cinema. the new Masters of the Universe is a pretty fun movie, and I would recommend watching it in the cinema.
