New Zealand taxes farmers for methane released by sheep and cows

New Zealand has unveiled a plan to tax sheep and cattle burps in a bid to tackle one of the country's biggest sources of greenhouse gases.

It would make it the first nation to charge farmers for the methane emissions from the animals they keep.

New Zealand is home to just over five million people, along with around 10 million cattle and 26 million sheep.

Almost half the country's total greenhouse gas emissions come from agriculture, mainly methane.

However, agricultural emissions have previously not been included in New Zealand's emissions trading scheme, which has been criticised by those calling for the government to do more to stop global warming.

"There is no question that we need to cut the amount of methane we are putting into the atmosphere, and an effective emissions pricing system for agriculture will play a key part in how we achieve that," New Zealand's climate change minister James Shaw said.

Awwww! Fred bloody disgusting mate, was that you or your cow?

Just thought this might be relevant but methane from farm animals doesn't actually reach the ozone to cause any damage despite the fact that cattle produce more methane than all the humans put together. Here's something else......you can use the methane from cows to power vehicles without too much loss of power. So, this tax is a vegan tax, and its only going to get worse as the lunatics have finally taken over the asylum.

I know none of us like hitler for what he did to people be them jewish, polish, ukrainian etc etc but he was always in fear that communism would hit Europe, so that's why he attacked Russia and broke their agreement......but communism has infiltrated europe at the highest levels, not just that but most if not all of the minority groups i.e. woke, blm are run by marxists and isn't marxism one of the communist beliefs that came out of Germany, yes, yes it was. So communism was already in Germany, what is happening now by most of the european countries is no different from communism, if you disagree with a minority group and say so, the likelihood is you will be investigated. So, freedom of speech and a belief in your own country is not how we are supposed to be? No, no it isn't....we are to obey, no matter what.

Covid lockdowns had nothing to do with stopping the spread of a virus, it was to prove that they had complete bloody control over the people that were in the country, obviously there would always be some that went against the rules not laws, rules. I never wore a mask, nor washed my hands in alcohol wash, I did not adhere to the 6 foot social distancing. It was nonsense. If millions of people died....where are all the bodies? Cemeteries would be over filling with the deceased. I had a droid issue, told them on the phone at the doctors and guess what...they put me down as having suspected covid, no, no it wasn't it was a chest infection and I know because I've had them before. So, figures have been manipulated to make it seem worse than it is to scare everyone to run for the hills.

I had my tests every time I went to hospital for whatever reason and always came back negative. So, you see its not just New Zealand that are going bonkers ;)

good points made, if animals make methane they should be finding ways to save it and use it for driving vehicles, it would be a big saving on petrol and the farmers would benefit from it, ( how to do it is another problem)

Hmm ... why do I think that a tax on farmers' cattle means fewer cattle? Then less meat. Then higher beef prices. I better stock up on porterhouse steaks now while I can still get them.

Careful, CO2 is also in short supply which is needed for the meat....lol

:cool:They could have picked a healthier looking cow for their News Headline:cool:

Oh good grief! It is pretty clear that the majority of noxious gases arises from the pronouncements from the various houses of parliament and congress!

MOO FU

( You can't conquer a free man) there are no freemen to conquer as every one has a ball and chain around their ankles and so freedom is given by the length of the chain.
