Re: Hoarding (not the tv show)

Some neighbours moved out of a flat opposite me years ago, there were 1000's of milk cartons neatly folded up in huge piles (very neat and most likely washed) 10,000's of news papers neatly folded in perfect condition., i don't remember what else but it was coming out for days, very strange indeed.

I used to keep some junk but now i'm down to 1 'man draw' in the kitchen :D

Re: Hoarding (not the tv show)

We have one in my council area that has been hoarding for 40 years.
The council does a clean up of his property every 2 years or so and adds the charge to his rates.
And then he starts again. The health hazard is the worst bit.

My Mother-in-law is an 86 year old hoarder. She started when her husband died in 1986. My wife goes over once a week to try to keep it under control. So far she's ditched about 10,000 pounds of crap. Also found $6,000 in coins and hundred dollar bills.

Re: Hoarding (not the tv show)

My dad was like that. My mom and I just recently cleaned out my dad's room and threw out old bills, Christmas cards from 2000, hell we threw out junk mail from 1980.

Broken watches, broken stuff that would never work again but he found value in it. I went through the attic and we'll, attic is empty now where we couldn't even walk through there before.

Going through 50 years of accumulated junk, tell yu its a bitch.

I used to collect computer components like graphics cards, memory and even CPU from old rigs just in case they were needed to be used.
I got the habit from another 'tinkerer' who used to do the same thing but his habit cluttered up half his home...
That all changes when you enter a serious relationship & have a partner who won't tolerate 'clutter'.
