How about thanks?

Hi guys,

sorry if I post a question that is probably explained in the rulebook. I also opened the guidlines but could not find anything about it.

I wonder how we thank the uploaders for their work? I know there is a "like" button, but I noticed that hardly anyone uses it. Apart from that one can also post a reply and thank the author. But I noticed that almost no one is thanking directly in threads.

Is it uncommon on Dirtywarez to thank the uploader or how should I thank within the forum for an upload?

Thanking, in any form, constitutes elementary good manners, unfortunately not possessed by all.
If you click "like", you help the uploader increase his total of them and thus his standing.
If you post Thanks, you bump the post and help keep it alive.
Of course, nothing prevents you from doing both if you are really pleased.
The choice is yours.

Even worse, in fact much worse, is the case of some members who ask for help, sometimes even appearing desperate, and after several people volunteer advice, the OP doesn't even bother to provide feedback, let alone thank anybody in any form.
I believe such negligence/ingratitude merits barring the OP from asking help again by giving him the attribute "Bad Help Requestor".
And I am seriously considering making the suggestion.

The best way to thank an uploader is to post a comment and tell them.
This will bump their topic and possibly keep the links active longer.

Take a moment and dont just post 'Thanks" but tell give them an unique reply.
I know I like these and and I am sure others will too.

We are doing our best to be unique forum and allow what others dont.

I use “Thanks” all the time. It shows the has been seen and acknowledged, but if I do download from an uploader
I hit thanks and post a thanks.

Many times I want to thank but I get the message that I can't post again so soon, so thanks are lost out.

If I download something from requests, which occasionally I do, I'll stick a reply in, its courtesy, if and it is a big IF I find something in the main download section I will click like.

I use the like button here and there... however, I do say Thank You to any post that I get material from.

As far as all uploaders go.., please note that we are in a perpetual state of Thank You! In other words.. you may not hear it, or see it on every post, but your efforts are truly appreciated here.

I use the like button all the time. It shows the poster I have acknowledged their post and have seen it. If I do download something from their post I use the like button and leave a comment. It’s the least I can do to give thanks their work.

Also you need to bear in mind that hitting the like button increases the posters reputation
